We stopped at this charming looking little hotel for what I like to refer to as a 'posh pit stop'. First the negative aspects: Lady in the bar did not smile and seemed un interested in serving us. Toilets where clean but a little dated. Did not expect to see a plastic wall mountable tissue box lying on the stone sink top. Views out over the Seine estuary lead your eye to the local oil company storage depot and refinary. For four drinks we paid €17.00 inc sales tax. The room tarif in my view 'beggars belief'.
Good aspects. The small garden is private, has a good variety of plants and is fairly well kept. The town of Honfleur when we drove through today seemed very busy so this place is a little oasis of calm away from the town.

I haven't had the pleasure to stay at this hotel simply because the "rigeurs" of managing to book 2 rooms for 3 nights with 2 dogs was too overwhelming for hotel reservations - I did one big mistake: to indicate a stay of 3 to 5 nights depending on availability and room standard, we've telephoned several times and sent numerous mail, but reservation insisted on a different configuration altogether - normally, we choose Relais&Chateaux as a safe bet, but I'm beginning to believe they're lacking in their selection standards and only work as a portal and marketing front for the hotels - but who knows, maybe it's an excellent hotel if you manage to book a reservation ;-)

My wife and I stayed 2 days. Employees try to help you the best they can. Access to the beach is a 1 minute trip down the hill (even if the refinery view of le Havre is not the most exiting). The bath room was spendid. I understand why it is rated 4 stars.
Nevertheless, Wifi is not working in every rooms (a poor Wanadoo Box is providing the internet access from the lobby). And the acoustic of the hotel lets you hear everything. Our room was on 1st floor (ie ground floor) and we could hear the *%#* phone ring sound every morning. instant wake up guaranteed. Not to speak about the cleaning lady working in the front room at our floor. She slamed the doors violently every morning to add salt on the wound...

I agrre and disagree with some of the other reviewers of this hotel. My wife and I spent 2 nights in the Chaumiere Suite, and found it comfortable, the food good and the staff friendly. On the other hand, they allowed a (crying) baby into the restaurant, and the refinery views were less than idyllic. True, this shouldn't really be a Relais, but it's a great place to just relax.

I agree with those who have wondered aloud if this is a Relais et Chateaux property. It should not be. Do not waste your money at this overpriced shack overlooking the oil refineries. Not only is it coasting on the reputation of that great group Relais et Chateaux but it is degrading the entire concept. I would hesitate before again booking one of their properties, which is a shame. From now on, I will not trust their reputation for excellence and luxury. A charming building from the outside, but shoddy, small rooms of 2* quality --- barely able to walk around the bed! Lovely bathroom and fine restaurant for dinner but that was it. You could easily tell this place does not expect repeat visitors and I left feeling like a real chump. For an expensive meal, it is OK, but one would be better off in the lovely harbor town of Honfleur, which has several hotels and restaurants.

Great charming, romantic Relais et Chateaux, 2h away from Paris, 10mn from Deauville.
Honfleur is just such a beautiful colorful town.
Great Restaurant at La Chaumiere, amazing food experience.
Beach is never ending, excellent for walks on a deserted beach.
They provide racquets for Tennis, and have a few bycicles available.

After a long overnight flight , driving from Paris and stopping a few places along the way, this hotel was a site for sore eyes. We arrived around 5 pm. The grounds were beautiful, loved the look-half timbered, Normand style. Staff was very friendly! The room was big, even by American standards ( I booked in advance, and I think it was the largest) Unfortunately, the restaurant was booked and we asked for a place for "take out" this was lost in translation! The staff couldn't figure out what we wanted. Try miming take out-it;s hard! We did not feel like dressing up and going into town so we did France's version of take out-baguette, brownies and cookies from the town bakery, (closing time) next door, the meat market sliced fresh ham and cheese, bottled cokes and brought it all back to the hotel. It was divine! Soaked in the large and slept for about 10 hours straight! The hotel granted us a late checkout and we were free to walk around Honfluer and off to the D-day beaches. We could have stayed another night. Overall, excellent, comfortable stay.
