We arrived on an extremely rainy, late afternoon only to find that we had to park around the corner at least a block from the hotel. We dropped our luggage out front first. The parking cost was around 15e for the night although we were told it was 8e. We spent a little more to stay at this recommended hotel, but found that it was average really and not very centrally located. The town was quaint with an interesting history. The harbor was lovely. We had a spacious room with coffee/tea self service in the room. The bathroom was small with a very little shower in which one had to be cautious in turning around in so as not to increase the hot water by bumping the handle! It was clean and comfortable which was just what we needed on our first day arriving from Paris.

Decided on a whim to take my nearly 3 year old for a quick weekend at the beach (crumbling under weeks of pressure to go and build sandcastles!). As her Dad was away, was just the 2 of us so I particularly wanted something centrally located so we could ditch the car and just walk. This hotel was ideal and the staff were fantastic. I booked through booking.com just a couple of days before - had a lovely room overlooking the fisherman's harbor. The hotel is right in the middle of the lovely town of Honfleur - excellent restaurants all around (all different standards, but all with lovely Normandy fish dishes and Soupe de Poisson (which we drank by the bucketful all weekend!). The staff responded immediately to a couple of email enquiries that I made before actually showing up - very personally and kindly. They were very helpful with local advice and information. The hotel is a 15 min walk along a lovely promenade to a huge beach - though it is a bit industrial as is facing a large power/processing plant. BUT plenty of sand and shells - so whilst maybe not the most picturesque, it more than served our purposes. We slept like logs in a lovely comfy bed, and breakfast was excellent. I tend to disagree with the person who said they thought breakfast was expensive. In France one usually gets a coffee and a croissant or piece of baguette for breakfast which can cost as much as 8 euros. For 13 euros we ate as much as we could (they didn't charge me for my daughter's breakfast even though she packed away more than me!) of eggs, ham, salami, selection of cheeses, cereal, fruit, yoghurts, pastries, croissants, chocolate tarts etc. The hotel is very accessible from Paris - it took us 1hr 45mins straight run down the A13. Only tiny snag is that they don't have their own parking, but there is a public car park (8 euros a night) just 50 metres away, and there are many other public carparks (a bit less expensive) a bit further away. I would definitely do this again. Do keep in mind that this is a 3 star hotel in France (not the USA!!). It is basic (but not THAT basic!) but the rooms are a pretty good size in a country where hotel rooms can frequently be not much larger than the bed. It was completely perfect for us. In terms of beaches, there is a lovely beach in a village between Honfleur and Trouville on the Route des Fleurs (beautiful road along coast past many many traditional Normandy mansions), and then Trouville, while a bit touristy, has a massive beach with tons of childrens' entertainment (if you happen to be travelling with kids)... a small Aquarium, little train rides, ponies, slides etc all on the sand. It's about 15 mins drive from Honfleur.

Room Tip: We were on the 3rd floor which might be quieter than the 2nd floor - I see someone else found it noi...

Having decided to take a weekend trip to Honfleur to use up some Channel Tunnel tickets, we decided to book into Le Cheval Blanc which is a three star hotel situated right opposite the harbour. It was not a disappointment. Quite the reverse. Whilst basic,it offers very good value for money and we enjoyed a delightful superior room facing the port. The large double bed was extremely comfortable and the hot drinks caddy most useful. The staff were helpful and friendly. We chose to have breakfast in one of the cafes on the port a few metres away simply because a cappuccino and a croissant is all we wanted and it is perhaps more fun to try out what is on offer locally. As for the parking, there is a plethora of choice and a free 24 hour car park only a 5 minute walk away from the hotel seems to be the obvious choice. It is situated about 200 metres further up from the hotel opposite the old lighthouse structure and past the pay car park which is situated around the corner to the right.

Room Tip: Try asking for a room facing the port. Such a pleasant view.

This hotel has its own carpark 100 yds up side road. Need to check-in to get pass key for car park. Basic comfortable rooms with harbour view, No restaurant or bar. Perfectly functional but a bit basic and you will have had better breakfasts in a 3 star hotel. Plenty of restaurants close by but strangely not many bars. The town is enchanting and you will enjoy your stay.

This was a family suite with a king bed, bunkroom and then a cot. We did not realize the 5th bed would be a cot but it was ok. It was a little tight for 5 but the kids did not mind or complain.

The noise!!!! The room was on the second floor and you had a busy street right below the window. It was noisy all night. Also the bed was hard as usual for Europe. The bathroom was handicapped so water got everywhere and with a family room only one person at a time could use it because the shower was totally open to the rest of the room. Parking was far so we parked at the local parking lot next door and it was fine. The town is small so really any hotel would be convenient. I like to stay and walk to places so it was nice for that but I would not stay here again.

Room Tip: This was a family suite with a king bed, bunkroom and then a cot. We did not realize the 5th bed wou...

We stayed in the same hotel that we stayed in a few years ago. It is a very nice hotel with great rooms. Honfleur is one of my favorite small towns in France. It is so scenic and the food in this town is great. Lots of good seafood. We walked around the village and it is beautiful. We were there a little late in the year. It was pretty cool and the clouds were thick. The hotel was very helpful in giving directions, etc.

We chose the Cheval Blanc as it appeared (and indeed was) right in the centre of Honfleur. The setting was wonderful and the view from our room was superb. The room itself was smaller than I would have expected for a superior room. The bathroom was equipped with a fancy shower with jets but we could not get these to work despite reading the instructions carefully. The towels were a bit small and the only toiletries were a pump action shower gel. There was a kettle and facilities for making drinks, but only instant coffee and two sachets of lemon tea. We did not take breakfast in the hotel as we felt 12 euros each was too much, so cannot comment on the food. There was no shortage of places nearby for breakfast. The town itself is a delight, with lots of bars and cafes to watch the world go by. We would stay here again, but only for the location. We felt a bit more attention to detail would have earned a higher rating.

Room Tip: It is worth paying for a harbour view room but be aware that there will be some road noise.
