Stayed here for a weekend recently with my partner. It is as described, an Inn, so do not expect luxury. Instead, expect old country charm, rustic buildings and a huge warm welcome from Rafael and her team.

The room we were in was basic, but spotlessly clean and the bed was so very comfortable. Tea, coffee, water and biscuits are supplied, lovely touch.

The food was beyond delicious. My beef curry was sublime, my partner had marsh lamb, which was cooked to perfection. The chefs here really know their stuff and the full English breakfast set us up for the day. So much so, we had no room for anymore food for the whole day.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to Rafael, Stuart, Mel, Pearl and the fantastic team of chefs. We had a lovely time and really enjoyed our weekend. It was lovely to meet the regular local customers as well, true characters! Planning to return early December for another weekend.

Myself and the hubby spent 2 nights at Playden Oasts in room 10.....fabulous room if you are a smoker as it has a fenced off private garden with a gate leading into the car park. The room was big and had an incredibly comfy bed....not the plushest of places we have stayed at but had personality by the bucket load :). The staff were friendly and helpful and the whole place just felt comfy. About a 20 minute walk into Rye and despite what other people have said about the walk back (uphill) it wasnt anywhere near as bad as we expected and we are no athletes!!! Rye is a lovely quaint little town (was like going back in time).

Room Tip: Smokers - Room 10!!!

Just returned home from another weekend at Playden - been going now for many years...and have even spent a couple of Christmas's there.
Staff fabulous and very accommodating - Chef Chris and his team serve up the most amazing food - very good value for money and Chris will cook you whatever you challenge him too. Rooms are comfortable and clean and the whole place affords a feeling of home from home. Rafael is really the hostess with the mostess and a great ambassador for customer service.
The gardens are very inviing to take a drink and a snack out side to enjoy the weather.
Would highly recommend a stay.

Room Tip: we have stayed in more of the room and all are comfortable - but for that special weekend th roundell rooms are perfect, every room has its own character.

We enjoyed a lovely two night stay in room 4 at the Playden Oasts. This had a large round bed in one of the round rooms, and was very pleasant, although in need of some redecoration. Everything worked, and the hotel was quiet and very good as a base to explore the areas around Rye and Hastings. We especially enjoyed the food, and can highly recommend the appetizer of cockles with garlic bread. The mussels, stuffed peppers, scampi and plaice were all excellent. The local beer was also perfect, warm and flat just as it should be! (I'm not joking, there is also cold beer available for those who like it that way).
Breakfasts were also very good, and the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon was delicious. The also do a nice vegetarian cooked breakfast, although the fried bread was a bit too greasy (i suppose that is normal).
Overall, we really enjoyed our visit and would be very happy to stay here again in the future.

Room Tip: Room 4 is the quieter of the two round rooms as it is above the restaurant. The other is above the bar and can be noisier.

We were greeted by a very friendly host and shown to our room, which looked dated from the onset. The en suite facility consisted of a bath and home made sink unit within the room, the toilet was partitioned off with hardboard. Paint was flaking with yellow stains over the walls. The room was above the restaurant/bar, conversations could be heard clearly. The bed was extremely comfortable, after the bar closed we slept soundly. Breakfast was excellent cooked fresh to order by a very friendly and helpful chef. Overall it was ok, but greatly overpriced simply for the novelty of sleeping in a Round room.
