The place is gorguous. It is calm and well-decorated and yet close to Bayeux. We spent two nights with Helene and tasted the most delicious yoghurt. The rhubarb jam made by her is unforgettable as well. Helene is so kind that she has even offered to do the laundry for us without charging us anything. Even if you are not planning to go anywhere, walking in her garden and feeding the sheep is fun. I simply enjoy having a cup of tea in the meeting room after going out for the whole day. It is so relaxing. Helene has given us lots of privacy and space in her place, which can hardly be found if one stays in a hotel.

We had originally booked to stay 5 nights at Moulin de Hard and then 5 nights in Paris but having literally fallen in love with our very spacious, clean and comfortable room and bathroom on arrival, the following morning we rearranged all our travel plans, extending our car hire and reducing our hotel booking in Paris just to be able to stay an extra two nights at Moulin de Hard even though in reality we had exhausted our sightseeing in Normandy in those first five days. It just felt like we were the first visitors to ever use the room so we were hugely glad we stayed on because the hotel room in Paris turned out, as I had imagined, to be manky and dated and too expensive. Mademe Helen Fichot is a lovely host, friendly and helpful and not at all interfering or overbearing. We felt very much at home. We stayed in the yellow room but I would definitely like to return in the future and maybe try the red room. Breakfast was plentiful and excellent with homemade treats like six varieties of jam and white yoghurt as well as quality Normandy butter. A generous and good breakfast as well as clean rooms is definitely the sign of a good b&b. I've recently been put off my passion for travelling because of the poor standards of accommodation, size and cleanliness and usually just live out of my suitcase but Moulin de Hard inspired me to hang all our clothes up in the wardrobe, have frequent showers, make the bed in the morning even if it was remade later and generally leave the room tidy for the maid. There were no short cuts. The towels were changed every day and I think also the bed linen which is fair considering we paid the same rate for every night unlike a lot of other establishments. We slept so well we were never in a rush to get up an leave in the morning. The hotels in the centre of Bayeux of the same rating are more expensive and don't appear even nearly as attractive when you've been at Moulin de Hard and one day is enough anyway to visit the attractions in Bayeux, namely the Tapestry and War Museum. I can't recommend this b&b enough!

Room Tip: The yellow room is great because it's at one side of the house, almost like a self-contained apartment with its own wooden staircase while the other rooms have another wooden staircase in common.

What a great experience. We had a lovely room, tranquil setting with a superb garden, delicious breakfast and above all, a warm and welcoming hostess. This is Helene's own home and her love of it is evident. It originally was a mill. She has cleverly kept a few vestiges of it's former self to remind you of the history of this place. You won't be disappointed if you choose this B & B.

What a lovely place. We spent two nights at Moulin de Hard and had a most pleasant stay. Great location for visiting chateaux. Of course we visited Chateau de Chinon that was close by. We also made a day trip to Chateau Cheninceau. The B&B is a perfectly preserved French country mansion. The rooms are quaint and absolutely delightful! The host, Mary, does credit both to her adopted country of France and her home country of Ireland. She was most helpful calling restaurants to make bookings for us and suggesting many local sights. You wont be disappointed! Good luck.

What a wonderful Bed & Breakfast. Close to Bayeux, yet peaceful and serene. Helen Fichot was a wonderful host. The Red Room was large by American standards and with the water running all night it was quite peaceful. We left the windows open all night and it was wonderfully cool. We will definetly stay here again when we return to France. The Normandy region was absolutely beautiful. As other reviewers state, a car is a necessity if you stay here, but driving in France was quite easy, especially if you like round-a-bouts!

Room Tip: Helen has a list of quality restaurants on a table by the door. We ate at three and they were the best meals we had in France.
