We had planned to find a quiet country auberge for the night on our way north. Failed miserably, and were very relieved to spot this hotel while going round the roundabout! Staff very friendly and helpful, room perfectly adequate and very clean, bed extremely comfortable. Only room critisism was the lack of tea bags and milk. Restaurant very good and breakfast the best we have ever had in any hotel.

Room Tip: First floor room had a fully opening window, so was cool and airy.

Loved this mercure!
Excellent evening meal and breakfast buffets
Bunnies playing on the lawns, lovely pool for when warm enough, easy to find location, very popular with locals for eating out!
Very accommodating staff although when booking for 3 check you get 3 pillows, cups, towels, etc

Nice region, pretty historic city, lots to do in area

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the lawns to watch the rabbits playing in the evening , lovely sundown spot!

Take a three night stop at this hotel and you are close enough to many of Normandy's tourist attractions to enjoy good dinners at the hotel and interesting days-out. The management and staff at the Mercure are both efficient and friendly. THe restaurant ' Le Garden' provides excellent, good-value fare and the breakfasts are both wholesome and copious. Accor offers free breakfasts for over 60's and good deals on half-board stays.

Room Tip: Rooms to the south are quieter than those facing the route nationale

Had a terrible night at the Mercure Lisieux in October 2012. The staff was very friendly, but everything else was a nightmare. There was no ventilation, at least on the third floor, which they call the attic rooms. That meant opening the window with no screen to deal with bugs or deal with the stifling heat. And this was in October! I can't imagine how bad it is in the summer. The beds were terribly lumpy and the accent linens were stained. Housekeeping was well below spotless, but I can't imagine it is the staff's fault - everything is stained, chipped and peeling. The place just needs a complete overhaul and a better ventilation system.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the incredible Pays D'Auge!

Room Tip: The third floor "attic" room was stifling so try for floors 1 or 2 if you have to stay the...

Stayed here on an overnight stop between Calais and Brittany. Standard Mercure quality, not unreasonably priced, but an outstanding restaurant. We sat out alongside the (rather small) swimming pool and had a fantastic meal before calling it a night.

It is a fair distance from Lisieux itself, so only really good as a stopover, and the rooms are very hot. No air con on a 34 plus day was almost unbearable.

May not choose again for that reason, but you won't regret it if you're looking for a final meal of your trip!

Very grateful to find a room here late one evening on a bank holiday weekend. Room clean but rather tired. Bed comfortabl and good shower. Staff polite and helpful. BUT the food was the worst I have experienced in a long time. Had the Menu du Jour. Starter OK; jambon de pay and feta cheese - not much to go wrong there. Main, a disaster: tough, tasteless steak - couldn't eat it all. Dessert meh: indifferent. Certainly not worth the money paid.

Third Accor hotel of our trip. The most important thing to note is that there's no air conditioning - an assumption we made that we lived to regret in a heat wave. There is an unheated outside pool however. The rooms are a litte tired in some ways but the mattresses are very comfortable which for me with a bad back is a godsend. Breakfast is excellent and we got it included on line as a weekend deal . Location good - two minute drive to town centre and basilica or to the main roads into the Normandy countryside. But as there's a good chance in summer you'll need to have a window open at night traffic noise will intrude if not at the back of the hotel. Huge e lecrlec across the road with filling station. had to mess the hotel staff around a bit due to circumstances of our own and they were extremely kind and helpful.

Room Tip: Main roads pass nearby so traffic noise will be present everywher ewith windows open but worse to th...
