This has to be one of the most magical places on earth. The place and the family are beautiful and kind. Loved the animals and the pets. The food was natural with no preservatives...all the meals were delicious...added bonus was the homemade jams, jellies, and bread. I felt like I was living in a fairy tale...hard to believe that the people, pets, and place were real. This bed and breakfast is extremely efficient, clean, and comfortable.

Room Tip: Rooms on lower floors are wonderful. Higher floors have smaller rooms.

Beautiful property, lovely rooms, excellent location to visit Giverny gardens, galleries and restaurants. We had several dinners prepared by Stephanie that were outstanding. The family and pets were all delightful and entertaining. The large common room had a grand fireplace that added to the warmth of the setting. The wifi worked well on the first floor near the router. The breakfast with homemade jams were really special. I would love to return for another stay at the Moulin.

Room Tip: The poppy room had great sun light but the stairs are a bit steep to the third floor if you have any...

I never write comments on anything... but this time could not resist temptation: this place is more beautiful than Claude Monet's mansion!! :) Hostess Stephanie is restless, funny, bilingual, and very entertaining - we could understand her stories about travels in Australia and Edith Piaf IN FRENCH without translation! The host Gerard is a great cook, very attentive and welcoming - after a great dinner with drinks he invited us into one of their interesting, well decorated rooms for calvados and tea/coffee. Their daughters served us gracefully. Their exotic animals - are must to see! :) This family works hard to deliver the best service to their guests and very generous in everything (dinner/drinks/breakfast/smiles/stories). We will never forget our evening with them - it was funny and relaxing after our long drive. Thank you, guys! I will try to upload a few pics.

Room Tip: For young people - attic!!

My husband and I stayed here for one night on September 3, 2012. Stephanie was a wonderful hostess. She speaks very good English, and she really wants to make her guests feel comfortable. Yes, there are "rules" in the house (like no loud talking after 10 p.m.), but only so that all guests can feel welcome and enjoy their stay. The home and gardens are beautiful, and the breakfast was great. We also enjoyed the menagerie of exotic animals. As for those negative reviews - keep in mind that this is a bed and breakfast - not a chain hotel! If you want a traditional hotel atmosphere, this is not the place for you. However, if you want to feel like a guest in someone's beautiful home and be treated like one of the family, then I highly recommend Moulin des Chennevieres.

We recently stayed at Moulin des Chennevieres and my 12 year old daughter was absolutely enthralled by the abundance of animals around the property. Cats, dogs, chickens, pigs and other assorted creatures kept her busy. The rooms (we booked two) were lovely and the breakfast fantastic. Location is also great, an easy walk to restaurants, galleries and Monet's residence and gardens. We had a great time. A couple of things to note... the hostess was very business-like (kind of abrupt actually) and the thin walls made listening to others difficult to avoid. But overall our stay was very good.

Picture postcard old water mill property (wheel still working and providing electricity for the house) in lovely grounds. Warm welcome by Stephanie and the assorted dogs, cats and chickens.
Comfortable room (we were in Les Cocquilles - or Poppies in English) with views over the wallabies bouncing around in the grounds. Private bathroom across the corridor. Assorted other exotic animals in next field!
Excellent breakfasts on the patio, and I recommend that you take up the offer of having an evening meal with the hosts - good value and Stephanie is happy to converse in French or English.
Rooms have no keys, but the property is protected by electronic gates; you will be given the code, but I suggest that you do it in daylight the first time so that you can remember the sequence at night when you can't see the numbers!
A very relaxing 4 night stay. Bicycles are provided free of charge to tour around the local area, and the property is 5 mins walk from Monet's Garden. Plenty of other lovely villages and chateaus etc within easy touring reach.
One word of warning about Giverny; most of the hotels/restaurants are not open in the evening, or at least were not in August (Hotel Baudy being an honourable exception), and there are no shops - not even a boulangerie. Vernon is only just up the road though.
If you like traditional properties, friendly service, and particularly if you are animal lovers, this is the place for you.

Lovely house, lovely welcome, lovely breakfast. And guests who spoke to each other with ease- no doubt due to the atmosphere created by the hosts.. And the sun shone on the gardens.

Ate well at Baude - but should have booked with the hosts of the B&B for their table d'hote.
