“Most beautiful meal and experience in France”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

My partner and I were getting married, a small affair we'd decided where food was of utmost importance.
After numerous requests for tables for just 10 at restaurants we had her hearts on in Paris, we decided to go elsewhere. Even the Mini Palais grand terrace could not accommodate us because they just don't do tables of more than 8. We were disheartened with only 2 weeks to go before the wedding date.
We decided to speak with Le Jardin des Plumes. Wow!
All I can say is from the greeting, to the table setting and the stunning fresh interior, to the exceptional staff and service, the smiling faces, the great wines and the far from snotty Parisian attitude to dining, we were absolutely beyond delighted with our choice.
I haven't even mentioned the food yet which was so incredibly out of this world. Five courses (you don't have to do five courses) with each one eliciting more ooohs and aahhhhs then the next. Our friends, all foodies who know their stuff, were still talking about it for days to come.
We left with full bellies and flushed faces from a brilliant, brilliant day. I cannot wait to go back to try it all again and this time we'll stay in the boutique hotel upstairs.
Exquisite, chic, stunning both inside and out but maintaining a relaxed, friendly manner for me makes this the best experience of my two years of wining and dining through France. My only regret is that we were so blown away by it all, we got caught up in the moment and forgot to leave a big enough tip. We'll rectify that next time because they deserve double.

“Perfect weekend lunch destination, for a celebration!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2013

The venue was chosen to celebrate the marriage of two dear friends, which was held in the morning in Paris, and after much searching for a suitable venue in the City of lights, (with no good solution found… that is for a whole other review…) the decision was made to go out of Paris for the lunch. Good decision.

A gorgeous garden area welcomed us, plenty of space and a restaurant with a modern classic fitout. We moved inside to a wonderful table with a view over the garden, where our 5 course meal began. The chef's choice of dishes was great, (a starter of confit of egg with octopus served in an egg shell, in an egg carton was interesting, innovative and delicious!) The service good and not rushed even though we arrived late due to the wonderful Parisian traffic! And the cheese course, beautifully presented and of course delicious!

Highly recommended.

“tried too hard in places to score for Mr Michelin stars.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2013

Mixed feelings overall. Certainly way overpriced even to London standards.
We had main and desserts only. My main veal was divine but spoilt by the weird unnecessary addition of a piece of watermelon and raspberry which added absolutely nothing to the flavour of the meat. It was divine without! why spoil it just for show?
My dessert was disappointing for a chocolate lover like me. Again dark chocolate spoilt by the addition of red fruits, would have been so much better with a different combination. Like nuts, pistachios or caramelised something?
we didn't need a starter and that was a wise choice as they offer a huge array of buckweat crackers with goat cheese and tapenade as amuse bouche. Enough to keep you waiting.
Decor is very nice and modern. But overall not worth what we paid for.

“Birthday treat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2013

We were recommended this restaurant by our B and B, we called in the morning to make a reservation. When we arrived we were welcomed, warmly. We had our aperitif on the terrace before moving inside for our meal, which was delicious. A fairly expensive evening but a treat as it was my birthday. We would go again if we visit the area again.

“the longer not the better...”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

Sept 4th 2013, table of 7 @ 12:30. Our friends arrived before 1pm. The restaurant was not busy at all but we left after 3:30. The service or kitchen was deadly slow. We were not looking for full US size plate, but we could have done with bigger portion.

The service was trying to get busy while waiting from the kitchen so we had waiters serving wine one affter the other, but we had to get the water ourselves at some point.

beware the flies... (inside)

We had to ask 3 time for the bill...

Don't think I will go there again.
