“A MUST SEE ATTRACTION”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2013

We visited Claude Monet's house and gardens in Giverny on our way to Paris from Les Andelys. Well worth the trip! We were there in May and it was a beautiful day. We booked our tickets online and walked straight in - no lines. The gardens are absolutely breathtaking! One can never capture the real beauty of the place on camera. It is as if you are walking in a portrait. The house is also immaculate. Our hats off to the Claude Monet Foundation for keeping this place in such a perfect condition. Thank you for creating this intense beauty. You filled up our senses!

“Only the french could drive a road through this”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2013

What a wonderful spot. And such a shame that there is a new (ish) road which divides the lilly ponds bit from the rest of the garden.I would still love to live there though...Must get those old paints out..Going back this year to have a proper look around the house.

“Go early, get your tickets online”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2013

When you go to Monet's Gardens, be sure to order your tickets online and use the back/side entrance to get in. This way you will miss the lines of this very popular attraction. The site itself is not very big, so also bring your patience. Get there early and dedicate about 3-4 hours, especially if you have a camera. It will be tough to get a lot of the pictures you want with all of the people around, but give it time, you will. The waterlillys are beautuful, and the pond itself very small. Do not expect a massive spread with an enourmous water feature. The whole place is calming and hits so many different senses.

There are many places to eat in the village, so be sure to grab a bite before leaving.

“Well worth it”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013

We did a one day trip to Versailles/Giverny and the Monet "estate" and it was well worth it even though it rained a bit while there. The gardens in Sept were still beautiful and if you are a Monet fan his house and gardens are a must see. The house is especially fascinating.

“Not an Artist but Amazing!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2012

We recently visited a few places in France as well as Monet's Gardens. The self guided tour was amazing even if you are not into art, as I! We stayed at the Marriott property located at the Disney area and got the metro at the Marne Vallee Chessy Station. I will post the excerpt, as to how to get there, from an posting that I posted.
One bus ride alone is 1.90 euros per person however the Visite Paris Pass is recognized. We took a 3 day Normandy trip and also a 1 day Givierny trip (Monet's Mansion). Using the railroad is just as easy. We left from the St. Lazare Station as most do. To get there take the Red Line (metro), from Marne la Valle Chessy station and then there are 2 options. You can get off at the Gare de Lyon stop and then catch the purple line that will leave you off right in the station. The other option is getting off at the Auber stop and take the 3 line, one stop, that will also leave you off in the station. Once in the station the SNCF Railroad counters are on the opposite side of the station/mall. There is one on the first level and one on the second level, this is where the trains depart from. Basically the same process as the TGV, CDG, process. USE THE SYSTEM!!
That was the posting.
Not to worry as the buses to the mansion are timed to the trains. When you get off the train and go underneath the station in order to get to the buses look at the times when the trains go back to Paris, if that is your returning point, and plan your time to return from there.
When you are done seeing what you want at Monet's the buses will be staged to take you back to the station. The bus fare is aditional to the train fare, but onlya few Euro's per person. A good outing if you have the time to go back into history!
