We stumbled across La Peniche without knowing anything about it. (Had planned to go to Ciros but with no prix fixe at lunchtime it was going to be seriously expensive.)
It's a great spot with charming views. You can easily walk from the centre of town in a couple of minutes. Staff were very friendly and did speak English (contrary to earlier review) although they were very appreciative of our efforts at French. They had two prix fixe menus, both were good value with the most expensive at 34 euros for 3 courses, with a good choice for each course.
All the food was very good, although the guinea fowl (pintade) was rather salty. They were very accommodating in making up an excellent vegetarian platter with filo and goats cheese parcels for one of our party (she also had the vegetarian first course from the prix fixe menu and it was apparently delicious.)
Would definitely go back.
