We stumbled across La Peniche without knowing anything about it. (Had planned to go to Ciros but with no prix fixe at lunchtime it was going to be seriously expensive.)

It's a great spot with charming views. You can easily walk from the centre of town in a couple of minutes. Staff were very friendly and did speak English (contrary to earlier review) although they were very appreciative of our efforts at French. They had two prix fixe menus, both were good value with the most expensive at 34 euros for 3 courses, with a good choice for each course.

All the food was very good, although the guinea fowl (pintade) was rather salty. They were very accommodating in making up an excellent vegetarian platter with filo and goats cheese parcels for one of our party (she also had the vegetarian first course from the prix fixe menu and it was apparently delicious.)

Would definitely go back.

Visited Deauville as the last stop on a long weekend in Normandy. We were eastward bound towards Paris CDG and it was lunchtime. We happened upon this little establishment by chance but we were extremely glad that we did. Unwittingly we were about to experience the most pleasant dining experience of the break ! We walked up the 'gangplank' to the entrance of a floating diner and immediately on entry we could feel the warmth of the staff. We communicated in our schoolday French and they accommodated us coaching us with the menu and our French language. I ordered a fillet steak and it was cooked exactly as I wanted it. The wife's was too and we had the desserts which were mouthwatering. The bill was friendly and we felt that it was good value for the quality of the food we were served. The views are lovely across the marina and the place is spotlessly clean. Highly recommended.

It is good restaraunt to have a lunch, but not to go in evening. We got a good experience visiting La Peniche. The atmosphere is nice and food is also good, but I don't like service, because very few personal speak english, but they have got free wi-fi:)

Every table has an ocean view in this adorable houseboat. The prices for food and wine are more than fair for a serious, gourmet meal. We loved our fresh oysters and also fish--cooked to perfection. The steak was excellent, with an amazinfg choice of mushroom sauce. Great wine, too. Friendly staff that knew food, too. Thank you for a lovely evening!

La Peniche is situated in the end (or beginning) of Les Planches, so after lunch its a pleasure to walk slowly via Les Planches, looking at the sea and people enjoying the sun and sea breeze.Picturesque surroindings is, of course, a feature that helps La Peniche to stand in one row of well -known Deauville seafood restaurants. Its also a pleasure to see the white-and navy marina, full of private boats and grandfathers with their kids sitting in small boats and spinning around yachts.
The food is simple, as it has to be in such place and in Deauville.Nothing special, but tasty. My experience was nice. But, honestly, if You ask me, where to eat, I'd rather go to another place.
