If you're feeling overloaded by one too many big meals on Caen's Rue du Vaugueux, this is the place for you. We arrived when the restaurant opened on a weekday evening in May, so seating was not a problem. When I told the owner that I didn't speak much French (in my extremely limited French vocabulary), he responded, "That's OK, I don't speak much English." At that point I knew we were going to get along famously.
Since we were feeling the need for some greens, we went for the salad galettes. These are served with the greens sprinkled over the top of the galettes with the other ingredients, e.g. Andouille sausage, baked into the cake. Nice presentation and delicious! Wish I could say that we saved room for dessert crepes, but as senior citizens our appetites aren't what they used to be.
The owner was attentive but not intrusive with his service, a perfect combination. For a relaxed, informal meal, we wouldn't hesitate to return.
