My wife and i stayed here 18th July for the Normandy beach's tour with Leger. It was more than adequate when you are out for 11 hours on both days of your beach tours.
The rooms were basic but nice and clean, when going to Pegasus bridge buy a couple of D Day mugs but take some coffee satchets from the pound shop or tea bags! the cups in the room are very small.
The restaurant is very clean, breakfast was continental but generous with plenty to eat, sit anywhere for breakfast but at the evening meal you are allocated a table quite good, the staff were very friendly and eager to please, for the price save's going out somewhere in what is an isolated hotel situated in a business area and university complex very quite. the food was ok.
On going out of the hotel turn left and left again and you walk down and you will see the tram station catch the tram on the same side as the hospital to go to Caen. The price for the tram is 5.95 euro,s so make sure you have some change, pay for the ticket on the platform before getting on the tram don't forget to swipe it when you get on.
We counted 7 stations and got off of at ST Pierre right in the centre of Caen the last tram back is midnight ish get off at Campus Two.
We both enjoyed our stay in the Carline well worth the effort, enjoy yourself's and the beers not bad, spirit measure's quite generous.

Stayed here during a Leger battlefield tour. Had booked as a single traveller, but got a twin room (room 5) so I had a bit of room and I was also on the ground floor. Room was at the side of the hotel and was very quiet. No drawers but plenty of hangers. No table as such but large shelf under window instead, with tea/coffee facilities. Bathroom was adequate but make such shower curtain is inside the shower basin otherwise you will end up with a flooded bathroom floor. Bar area was adequate albeit quite small. Restaurant/breakfast area was good and food was very good. Would stay here again if in the area.

Stay here last weekend came over on a battlefield tour and loved it . Must admit we did check out tripadvisor before we set out on our jollies and did know to take a mug with a few extra teabags so no problems there .
The Hotel was spotless the bedrooms did everything you needed them to do as soon as our heads hit the pillow it was lights out till the alarm call in the am . Comfy beds and cracking pillows with extra by the room door as you came in . Shower again was spotless and the doors where entertaining ( you have to stay there to understand all in all the bedrooms where exactly what we expected .
Now the food was awesome Initially having eyes bigger than my belly I started in to the cold buffet leaving nothing off the plate sat down and started digging away only to find out this was just a starter and the main was yet to come ( You have to try the steak with creamed mash patatoe and French beans mmmmmmm ) followed by a stunning desert I was almost rolled out of the restaurant area .
The staff where kind and so eager to help always with a smile and extremely tolerant of my version of the language even if I did sound like the Policeman off ' Allo Allo ! ' they listened patiently without laughing in my face once .
The tour was fantastic Pete the guide new his stuff and the Omaha Cemetery still brings a lump to my throat when I look at the photographs .
I was always told you can tell if you had a good time because you will always go back there and I would go back there in a heartbeat .
It says its a 2 star but its closer to 3 .
Well done and thank you for having us . We will be back :)

Room Tip: Take your favorite Mug with you and it'll be bliss :)

Although in the centre of a business park, this is a great hotel to stop at the night before a ferry crossing. Just 20 mins from ouisterham, you can have a lie in. Staff are fantastic and food is good. It is also next door to one of the ubiquitous Buffalo Grills so eating is not a problem.
Doesn't seem to have air con in all rooms but the windows opened and certainly during the weekend it was quiet enough.
The staff have a good command of English if your French isn't too hot.
Not a hotel for necessarily spending a week at although it does make a great base for exploring the Normandy beaches.

We had a 1 night stop over in the Carline. We wanted a family room as we had 3 children with us, the Carline has family rooms a little like an apartment. You open the outer door and find yourself in a private corridor with 2 more doors leading to your two ensuite bedrooms.

The rooms were a reasonable size and were clean and functional, with flat screen tvs and pretty decent free wifi coverage.

Our room was next to the lift, which made it a little noisy, but nothing too bothersome. The rooms are a little old fashioned compared to the rest of the hotel, but they do the job for a decent stop over.

I found the man at reception to be exceptionally friendly and he was keen to try out his English on us and was more than happy to help us with our French, he always smiled and greeted us as we came in and out.

We ate breakfast the next morning and found it to be very good, with a good choice on offer. The hotel is maybe a little on the expensive side for it's location, but it served our purpose well.

Room Tip: If you book a family room ask for one away from the lift as it does clatter a bit.

Stayed here for a Normandy (Leger) battlefield tour in June of this year.

The hotel is located on the outskirts of the city near the hospital which dominants the skyline and this allows for an easy reference point if you choose to wander, although there is little in terms of restaurants or shops in close vicinity. The nearby tram service provides a quIck service into the centre.

The room was basic and small with the beds similar but kept clean and where made up every day. The shower and toilet room is also small but again clean and adequate for the length of stay. There is an open facility to hang clothes but no drawers provided which means you will be living partly out of your suitcase. The room was supplied with 2 tea bags and 2 coffee sachets daily located adjacent to the electric kettle. A tip would be to take your own cup or mug as the plastic cups provided don't allow for a 'reasonable' brew either in the morning or on return. The only down side was that the corridors could do with new carpeting or cleaning, but, this certainly didn't spoil our stay.

A small reception area is next to the limited bar and lounge area with an enclosed beer garden to the side of the hotel which allows for a relaxing end to the day.

The breakfast is more than adequate with a substantial continental buffet style offering (although it is the same each morning) and we also choose the inclusive 3 course set menu which was on offer and was far above what we expected of 2 star rating. Overall a good selection, well presented and very good.

The staff where always helpful and cheerful even with our limited knowledge of French and would always speak English as necessary, which was nearly all the time.

To summarise, a nice hotel for the 2 star rating as long as you don't expect more with good food and helpful staff with the down side being the somewhat small and basic room.

Reception area clean and bright, and booking in quick and efficient, with portering offered. Rooms very dated, but clean enough. Down side was the bed. Only 6ft long, and 3 pillows provided, talking to other guests it appears the norm, (why)??,although a 4th supplied quickly.
Restaurant very clean and bright, and the food good.
Went on a Legers Battlefield Tour, which was brilliant.
