“Very Informative”

If you are really "into" war, this is a good place to visit. It was almost a little too much for us. This is history that MUST NOT be forgotten, but difficult for us to take. It is nicely done with lots of displays and multi-media presentations.
A gift shop of war toys and food court.
Nice bathrooms!

“Don't miss this!”
Reviewed November 3, 2013 via mobile

I've visited the WWII Museum in New Orleans and still think it is the best even after visiting Normandy. However, the MEMORIAL is outstanding and gives a real French view/perspective of events leading up to the war, of the occupation and the events beyond the liberation. Take Bus 2 from the old town.....much easier than driving!

“Moving and informative”
Reviewed October 25, 2013

This is a great beginning to the start of a tour of the beaches and the cemeteries. It refreshes your memory about the history of D-Day in an interesting and moving way. Aside from the throngs of schoolchildren whose loud voices made it difficult to be a bit more contemplative, (though it was great to see the kids excited about what they were seeing), this is a wonderful museum. Sobering, important, fascinating.

“Detail and emotion”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

We spent an afternoon at the museum doing an audio tour of the vast displays of information and memorabilia from World Wars 1 and 2. Very detailed, illustrated and moving. A fantastic tribute to fallen soldiers and civilians in the early 20th century. Must see for anyone interested in history.

“An excellent introduction to WW2 and the events of D-Day”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

This is quite expensive otherwise it would deserve 5 stars. If you are already well informed on the local history you could easily find this a little superficial but for most of us it is an extremely well laid out and informative gallop through the major events of the lead up to, and events of WW2. Superb displays are interspersed with video clips and information boards in English and French. It all adds up to a sobering review of what happened and how it was allowed to happen by failing to address the evil that Hitler perpetrated in the early 1930s - something we need to remember in the present day. For the many of us with a cursory knowledge of that war, a must visit in my view.
