Hotel La Consigne - Caen
My wife and I and my Brother stayed at La Consigne in April of 2014. This hotel is in a great location across from the train station and town rail/bus stop. We were greeted by Regis who is friendly and energetic. We are not good at speaking French and he was trying his best to speak english. What we lacked in communication, Regis more than made up for in his friendly charm. In the week that we stayed we got to know both Regis and Jonathan. Both young men were very helpful and even packed lunches for us for. The food at La Consigne was good and the restrooms were clean. Our rooms were what we expected for the price range. The Town of Caen is rich in history (Including William The Conqueror’s Tomb) and should be on your list of places to visit in the Normandy area. Be sure to visit the tourist bureau that is across from Saint Pierre Church by the ATM (also handy). If you use this town as a base to see the beaches at Normandy we advise you to go to the next train stop at Bayeux (about a 20 minute train trip from Caen) there you can catch a bus to the gold beach. You can book excursions including Mount Saint Michelle from the Tourist Bureau. We left Hotel La Consigne feeling like we had made new friends in Regis and Jonathan. We greatly enjoyed our stay at La Consigne and the Caen area.
