“Superb in every way.”

I can't recommend this establishment enough. Exudes quality in every way. Bayeux is an ideal base for exploring the region as you will find many things in all directions. I used it as a base for visiting mainly D Day sites and all are easily accessible by car. Domitys is well positioned for the town, British cemetery, and motorway routes elsewhere. There is a huge supermarket across the road in a commercial center. The accommodation has everything you'd need and is pristine.

Spacious, comfortable and well appointed. Secure electronic gates for access but make sure you check in before the reception closes at 7 pm to ensure you have the remote and access codes etc. During the day the gates are open and closed at 7 ish. From inside closed gates will open but won't from outside unless you have a remote control for vehicle access or the pedestrian door's code. The area is residential and quiet. Everything is outstandingly clean, neat and tidy. I had seen reviews so I booked and was looking forward to staying there. I was not disappointed at all, infact for what it cost (a little more the a reasonable hotel ) I was amazed! Some accommodation abroad I would judge by the quality of its towels or furniture etc. At Domitys you will find hand embroidered luxurious towels, toiletries in a fashionable bag, personalised cushions/throws on the bed and a fuffy dressing gown and a pair of slippers! I have no hesitation in recommending this place and I will return again this year. I have travelled all over the world so I can judge quite accurately how places compare. One hotel in NYC cost more for one night (stayed for 5) than Domitys charged me for 7 nights! Don't get me wrong, the NYC one was fantastic but Domitys' value for money proved to be an absolute bargain! The building is essentially a residence for seniors with 10% or so for tourists and this ensures your (silent) neighbours will respect you totally. Did I say it has an indoor swimming pool, bar/cafe and restaurant? Well it does..... All very elegant and inviting ! I can't convince you just by you reading this, so prove me right... go and see!

This was a pleasant surprise. It was in a senior community about a 10 minute walk outside Bayeux. The rooms were very well equipped and clean. We greatly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it again. There is excellent parking in the gated community and a grocery store across the street.

The accomodation that we stayed in was a new one bedroom apartment. The apartment contains a kitchen and small tv area. We stayed two days from the 70th anniversary of d day so it was quite busy and we payed 100 euro per night for the room and we were told this is above average for the region.

The hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the Centre of town and the train station. It appears that this accomodation is part retirement home and part hotel.

Good points:

-the rooms are very new and clean and the bed is very comfortable.
- there is alot of parking
- A fairly easy walk into town
- dinner and breakfast are available on site for a reasonable cost

Points to note:
- The staffs english is not great (although they are French and this is to be expected) and therefore any non standard requests may not be easy to communicate
- our wifi did not work on the first night and the staff were unable to help

It's odd to be writing the very first review of an accommodation but here goes! We know Bayeux well and were intrigued when the name of a place we didn't recognise popped up when researching a short Easter break recently. On further investigation we found it was a new apartment complex in an excellent location but with an interesting twist: it's a retirement home for senior citizens which uses 15 rental apartments to help fund their operation.

Hmmm, we thought. Looks nice in the pictures but surely this would all be a bit odd? In the end we decided to give it a go and what a good decision that was.

It is almost everything you could expect from a modern holiday apartment location. A lot of money was spent on building the complex to a very high standard for both residents and visitors alike. We were given a tour of the facilities which include a restaurant, cafe bar, small swimming pool and gym before being shown to our apartment. This comprised a spacious living area with cooking facilities, a large double bedroom and bathroom.

The location is superb. It is beside a large hypermarché on the ring road that circles Bayeux but it is just a leisurely 15 minutes walk from the town centre. Less than 5 minutes walk away you will find the very moving British Cemetery and one of the leading WW2 museums in the region.

Minor quibbles would be a problematic Wifi service and a poor supply of kitchenware. The gates to the complex close very early in the evening but you are provided with an access bipper and code so you get used to this.

So was it odd? Yes, a little to be honest but not so much as to make any great difference. We enjoyed our stay at Domitys and will certainly consider it again the next time we are in the region.
