I took my 17 year old daughter and 16 year old son to Normandy to visit Juno Beach, Mount St. Michel. St Malo and some of the WWII Canadian sites this spring. We were fortunate enough to get connected with Francois Gauthron and have him tour us around the area for two days. His grasp of history was nothing short of remarkable, both regarding the WWI And WWII information and the history of all the sites and monuments of the area in general. His ability to share his understanding of this history in such an entertaining and informative manner added so much to our trip and the sites we saw while we were there. It made me a bit sad to think about how much we missed touring other sites previous to our meeting up with him, not knowing what it was we were looking at while we were going through some of the other sites.. He helped us to look at it through the eyes of the time, keeping in mind all the political, economic, religious and cultural nuances of the period.
I want convey to him our gratitude for adding so much more to our trip through Normandy, St Malo and Mount St Michel than I could have hoped for and encourage anyone who may be looking for the benefits of a stellar guide to contact him.
I could not give him a higher recommendation.
PS His restaurant recommendations were also top notch.
