“Unexpected find”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

This was an unexpected find in the outskirts of Bayeux. Many names of reporters that lost their lives in wars and conflicts. Ernie Pyle is named. This is just a series of stones denoting the year and the names. I would give it a higher rating but it is just a list of names without context.

“Simple and Powerful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2013

The design of the gardens and the monuments really tells a strong tail that it isn't only soldiers and the innocent caught in the crossfire that die in war, but also those who try to bring the battles and truth to us. Seeing the volume of reporters who died in 2006/2007 was profound since it is recent and we know what was happening then.

“How often are reporters taken for granted?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2013

Situated next to the British Cemetery is the Reporters Memorial, in a secluded valley. On columns going back to the 1960's are so the names of so many reporters who have given their lives. I found it very moving especially as in Egypt this week, yet another reporter has lost their life.

“Peaceful walk”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 23, 2013

There wasn't much to this path with slabs with names on them and the year of their deaths. Nothing said who they were, where they were from or what circumstances lead to their deaths. There was also a limited sense of what exactly you were walking through. There could have been more. Nevertheless, it was peacefully done, and a beautiful setting for a memorial.

This is a well done memorial garden Beautifully maintained and strikingly simple. A short walk from town or the British Cemetary.
