The Churchill Hotel is a cozy, exceptionally friendly place to stay (we stayed two weeks in three different rooms). The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. The location is wonderful, center of Bayeux - one can walk to the Tapestry, The Battle Museum, dozens of excellent restaurants and the Wednesday am street market is outside the back entrance. The daily breakfast is also a real plus - coffee (lots of coffee), tea, juices, croissants, cheese, french bread, fruit, yogurt, etc. A real minus is that some rooms are small and price does not correlate highly with room amenities.

Room Tip: Room 200 a Superior double at 150 euros was reasonable value - decent amount of space, bathroom dece...

The Churchill makes a great home base for checking out Bayeux. The hotel has a lot of charm and the bathrooms are very modern, appearing to be recently renovated, which was a nice perk. The beds are very basic, and with the location comes street noise. The staff is very friendly, but the popularity of the hotel stretches them pretty thin. It also causes them to juggle reservations and switch rooms around, trying to maximize occupancy, so be very clear on what you have reserved and take your confirmation and any correspondence with you. They first put us in the wrong rooms, then sprung a room switch on one member of our group the second night we were there, making it her third room in a two night stay. So, if what you receive doesn't look like what you reserved, ask! As mentioned, there are stairs, so be prepared to haul your own luggage, or wait until the front desk person has time to bring it up. The location can't be beat - great restaurants, the Tapestry Museum, and the cathedral are all just steps away. The hotel offers a cold buffet in its breakfast room, which is very convenient, but there are also great patisseries/boulangeries just outside the hotel on the main street as well. The boutique attached to the hotel is also worth checking out! Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

I stayed here in 2013 for 3 days while visiting Normandy beaches. It was a great place to stay to allow trips to all the beaches. Old world cosy hotel. No lift and top floor room took a bit of work. I stayed in a room overlooking back of hotel which was quiet. The road outside was busy so would ask for room in back. Car parking available behind the hotel. There is a beautiful stream behind the hotel so go for a walk after dinner.
The tapestry and the cathedral are well worth a visit.
I would strongly recommend dinner in Le Rapiere wonderful restaurant just down the road. I would recommend this hotel. Looks like they got rid of the WWII jeep they had outside when I stayed from the picture.

A lovely part of visiting Bayeux was the Hotel Churchill last summer. It was very clean. The meals in the morning was lovely lovely. Darling women waited on us. The rooms were charming and the beds were a delight. We opened the windows in July and it was so peaceful and quiet. No elevator but the the stairs were wide and and easy climb. Price was very affordable and the staff was super sweet to my 14 and 19 year old boys!

Ideally situated off a quiet street (other than on Wednesday when the weekly market sets up) and close to the cathedral and Tapestry Museum, it would be hard to fault this hotel. It has the feel of being small but yet has many bedrooms.
My room was very clean, bathroom was up to modern standards, breakfast (it is a B&B establishment rather than a fully servicing hotel) was more than adequate. Many restaurants are nearby offering typical Normandy cuisine at inexpensive prices.
Staff were always cheerful and helpful. The hotel also offers a shuttle World War ll battle-field chauffeur tour service for which the hotel is ideally situated.

Stayed here for two nights as our central point to tour the Normandy WWII battle sights. Bayeux is the best town from which to tour the sights.
The Churchill is located in the center of Bayeux which is a plus. The hotel is also right next to the Hotel Lara, a short walk to the Bayeux Tapestry and in the center of shops and restaurants.
Staff are very helpful.
Our room was a good size though the appointments were average. Breakfast also average in selection for a French hotel.
Avoid staying in room 15, it is right next to the reception desk which can make it a bit noisy.
If we have another visit to Bayeux we would try another hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid room 15 and rooms that would be facing the main street.
