Stopped by on way back to the uk from Mont Saint Michel. Lovely little town. The tapestry tells the story well along with an audio guide. The tour is quick about half an to re tell the story of the huge tapestry. Well worth it for a key piece of British history.

The Museum of the Bayeux Tapestry should be considered a mandatory stop when in Bayeux. The audio aid plus the organization of the tapestry into panels combine to produce a coherent, readily comprehensible understanding of the tapestry and the events it commemorates. After viewing the tapestry, the film [alternating français/anglais], should be seen to round out the experience.

We normally don't bother with an audio guide in museums but in this case we knew that we needed to understand the story the Tapestry told in detail. We are very glad we did - the commentary was delivered at a good pace and gave us a great feel for the detail in the tapestry and the important story it told. Although the tapestry is behind thick glass which dulls it a little, it is impressive nevertheless and much longer than we imagined long! Nice gift shop too!

I was not sure what to expect but the Bayeux Tapestry was amazing. It was a long piece of embroidered linen that told a story of kings, princes and a war between England and France hundreds of years ago. It is is wonderful shape. A must see.
