It's definitely worth seeing the tapestry if you are coming to Normandy for the DDay experience. The whole museum tour takes an hour or less. Grab a headset and follow along---it's more interesting than I thought it would be. I've been here 3 times and each time is fresh and educational.

I'll be honest - I did not know what to expect. I knew little about the Bayeux Tapestry and, mistakenly, assumed it would be similar to the "woman with unicorn" tapestries at Cluny in Paris.
Well, I was completely wrong. This massive historical relic traces an epic moment in French & English history. It is simply outstanding.
The audio commentary is very well done. On a crowded day it helps keep people moving (we were there on an extremely quiet winter Monday and have the space to ourselves). The description of the events and the large & small details woven into the tapestry explains the events step by step. And, you can pause commentary for closer or slower examination.

The tapestry is mind blowing. I have seen it 3 times and would visit again, tomorrow. The audio-commentary is good and leads your through the story well. Once complete, go back and really look at the detail and the artist's superb interpretation of the battle. The margins of the embriodery are just as fascinating as the main event.
Tucked away in the town, the museum can be a little challenging to find but the sign posts are reasonable. Stick to them and persevere, you will get there.

If you are of English decent , this is a must. Records the battle in 1066 at Hastings for the throne of England. Great to see especially if you have been to battle abbey in Hastings and seen the battlefeild.

This was one of the best audio tours I have ever listened to. The narrators brought the drama depicted in the tapestry to life.
