Owner description: Situated near the British Military Cemetery of Bayeux, the Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy narrates the battles which took place in Normandy after the D-Day landings, between 7th June and 29th August 1944. The collections of military equipment, the diorama and the archival films allow the visitor to grasp the enormous effort made during this decisive battle in order to restore peace in Europe.

Casting aside all the sadness and the indescribable loss of life, this Museum stands out as one of the best memorials to The Fallen.

The exhibits are superb, as is the layout. Whilst it can in no way demonstrate the horror of the Normandy Landings, the museum goes a long way to those of us who come to pay our respects, to help us understand.

A 'must see' for us, our children, our grandchildren and all those who follow.

This will provide an excellent overview of the Normandy invasion by the allied forces. This museum , plus visits to the beaches, will greatly enhance your understanding and appreciation of the history. Suggest you get a Normandy pass for one Euro to get discounts throughout the area. It can be purchased at your first museum stop, either in Bayeux or at the beach museums.

This museum would help someone who was not really familiar with the history of the Battle of Normandy to follow it because of the various displays of the status of the battle every 10 days or so.

Visited this museum for an hour and a half - limited by other arrangements. Next time, we'll spend the day there. Highly informative, and well set out - it can be skimmed through or every exhibit and article reviewed in detail. A decent video tells the story of the post-D-Day battles.

A well-laid out museum displaying maps, weapons, vehicles, and so forth, that were employed in the invasion of Normandy and the subsequent fighting.
