If you wish to have an excellent meal that is regional in flavour this is it - look no further. Food was fantastic, staff spoke good English and experience was very good. The fact that it was booked out on a Saturday night by mid afternoon indicates not only the well founded reputation but also the quality of the food. You must try the wide cheese selection!

We celebrated my birthday at La Rapiere on a Saturday night in October. Upon arrival, we noticed the warm atmosphere and were escorted to a cozy table in the back. There were a number of other Americans in the room but there were also locals. We've heard that the restaurant suffers by comparison to prior years before the son took over the kitchen but we were oblivious to that nuance.

From the first savory plate delivered gratis to the amuse bouche and then each subsequent course, we were frankly overwhelmed by the flavors and beautiful presentation. It was birthday-worthy and then some.

My husband and I enjoyed the best meal of our European trip at this small but excellent restaurant. The service was exceptional, and the food was beautifully presented and delicious. Every course was amazing.

This restaurant hardly needs my endorsement--reservations seem to be a must. I agree with the previous reviewers, but I would like to add how very nice the owner and waitresses were. On a second night there for dinner we arrived with a severe rainstorm, and looked awful with our sneakers soaked, etc. You get the picture-- American tourists at their worst--but, they couldn't be nicer.

The location is in a verty old building (lots of charm), the service was top notch (they spoke English), the food was Excellent. I had the sea bass. This was the best meal we had in Bayeux and the second best we had on our France Trip.
