Description: At the centre of Bayeux, enjoy regional and seasonal products at the Lion d'Or Restaurant. This restaurant, at the heart of the Normandy region, gives guests the opportunity to try some of the specialities of this rich gastronomic area. Chef Jérôme Alix has designed several set menus as well as a generous à la carte menu. In the restaurant itself or on its terrace, you can savour suckling veal bred in Normandy, for example, before delving into a selection of local cheese and finishing in style with an apple Saint-Honoré cake, accompanied by a light Calvados cream and cider caramel.

“This was a gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

The hotel's restaurant turned out to be much better than I expected and I highly recommend it. We had a terrific meal with several unexpected highlights. it really is fine dining in the evening. Breakfast was very nice too. I enjoyed a quiet morning with coffee as I watched it rain outside. very pretty.

“Exceptional food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2013

Lion d-Or was recommended to us and we were not disappointed. The steak was the best I have ever had in my life. Don't forget to order dessert and sample some of the local liquor made from apples. It was an unhurried feast with great service.

“Good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013

This restaurant is located in a hotel. Sunday's and Monday's are to find a restaurant open in Bayeaux so we went to this restaurant. It looks very much like a hotel restaurant but we were surprised by how good the food was. We finally got to try the lamb from the salt marshes and it was delicious. The dessert was also very nice. It was a apple tart with caramel and calvados sauce server with ice cream

“Relaxing and upscale”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2013

We checked in on a Saturday night in the winter and the staff asked us if we wanted a reservation for dinner. I'm glad we said yes, as often we don't dine in the hotels. The ambiance was high class, with very romantic music. The room looked fabulous, and the St Valentine's day theme was still on. We choose seafood selections with a four-course prix fixe menu. Every course was exquisite, attractive and so good. The staff was extremely professional, friendly, and attentive without being in the way. Each lady was given a rose at the end of the meal. We thought it was one of the best evenings we've had...not low budget, but very high class.

“Fine Dining With Upscale Accents”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

The Lion d'Or proved to be one of our most enjoyable restaurants while we stayed in Bayeux. It was a short walk from everything in the central part of Bayeux and was part of an old hotel that looked like an excellent place to stay. The restaurant's decor was beautiful. Chandeliers, gold trim, fine china and table clothes and mirrors made the place sparkle. The food and the service did nothing to disappoint. Each of the prefixed menus offered appetizers, entrees and deserts that were outstanding. We picked a prefixed menu that started with fois gras, and ended with a delicious French desert that capped our evening with a smile. We would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to travelers staying in Bayeux.
