Description: The owners Isabelle and Thierry Lhuillery are strongly attached to the region, which displays lot's of famous specialities. Their cooking is both original and typical. The owners know pretty well the local producers, with whom they have been working for many years. When the ingredients are cooked, it is always in the respect of their original flavour, only spices and fresh herbs are added in order to make the best come out of them. Enjoy eating fresh sea food straight from the coast; try our daily raw marinated fish course, or a slice of duck foie gras flavoured with apple fragrances. Don't miss our Normandy beef and duck breast, or our delicate fish dressed with a light cream dressing. Do not also go by, without tasting our local cheeses such as : Camembert, Pont L’Eveque, Livarot or Neufchatel. And finally to put a pleasant end to this perfect meal try a chaudfroid apple dessert... It will be our pleasure to help you choosing in our wine and cider list the most appropriate beverage.

My wife and I ate lunch at Le Pommier on Thursday, March 19, 2008. The restaurant has an excellent location a few steps in either direction to Bayeux's Cathedral or Tapestry. We were two of a handful of diners. The staff and setting were fine, but the cuisine was somewhat lackluster. The preparations simply didn't seem fresh or creative, especially in comparison to other meals we enjoyed on this our fourth visit to France.

“A Real Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2009

Our first experience of regional French cuisine turned out to be one of the best!
After arriving later than expected in Bayeux, we thought it unlikely that we would find a good place to eat, how wrong we were! Despite not having a booking we were warmly greeted and soon treated to a wonderful meal featuring the rabbit and lamb dishes. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful, the cheese board was a highlight, as was the bill which with wine included was a fraction over fifty Euro!
A wonderful experience, highly recommended!

“Outstanding Norman Experience”

This restaurant is an excellent example of French cuisine. We did not pre book and had a party of 10. The staff took only a couple of minutes to make up our table. The building was sympathetically moderised, clean and atmospheric.

The menu was impressive however the actual food and presentation was outstanding.

The Confit of Rabbit cheek was delicate and balanced well by the onion marmalade. The fish was light and perfectly cooked, the selection of cheeses were delicious and the coffee with selection of desserts was a great finale.

I was amazed when the bill arrived 4 courses of outstanding food with wine for under 35Euros! The waitress was also delightful speaking perfect English and happy to assist with our faltering French. An outstanding experience with quality food. would travel again to France just to return.

“Wonderful French Dining”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2008

My husband and I had dinner twice at Le Pommier. It was just excellent. He is a big fan of french food and absolutely loved it. The prices were quite reasonable also. We ordered a bottle of wine and full menu's each time, including the fromage board and we never paid more than 89EUR.

I highly recommend reservations, but we were there in April and were able to get one by calling that day.

There is also a vegetarian option (full menu) that was just okay, but I was happy there was the option available. The whitefish was just all right, also, but everything else is outstanding. Try the lamb or the duck. Yum.
