“Great beef stew and atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2014

We came across this restaurant and was attracted to the welcoming atmosphere. Good wine and enjoyable food. I had the gingerbread beef stew which was surprisingly good - really tasty and very generous beef portions. My friend had the spinach and ricotta pasta which was also good. Nice creme brule for dessert!

“Pleasantly surprised”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2014

Called in on Saturday afternoon whilst walking around old lille. The place has a welcoming, laid back vibe and is a rustic restaurant, not smart...Didn't really know what we wanted so decided to order some nibbles. So.... After an Iberian platter, a cheese platter and the best frites I've ever tasted, we left feeling extremely happy!! So pleased we "popped in".....

“Delicious good, great value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2014

We ate here after struggling to find somewhere to have an early dinner before having to head back to London. I had a hot pot / stew type dish in a red wine sauce that was absolutely delicious - by far the best I've had for this type of meal.

“Afternoon of pure enjoyment.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2014 via mobile

My wife and i were visiting Lille for the weekend. We stopped off for lunch and stayed for the afternoon. The service is excellent, the wine is fantastic, and the burgers are exquisite. A must stop on your travels.

“A very enjoyable experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2014

We were in Lille last week on a day trip and decided that we would have a proper lunch rather than a snack. There is obviously a huge choice of eating venues and we had chosen a particular restaurant based on Trip Advisor reviews. On the way there we passed this one, liked the location and menu, it looked popular so changed our minds! We're happy that we did.

We chose the 3 course fixed price menu. My starter was Maroilles tart (a regional speciality) and my wife had the duck terrine. Both were delicious but beware, they serve large portions here. For the main course we both had the Carbonnade a l’Ancien which is another regional dish. Each individual cast iron pot had enough in it for two people and again it was extremely tasty. The desserts looked very inviting but we had been defeated by the previous two courses so settled for coffee instead!

The bill including a bottle of Bordeaux came to €65 which we thought was good value for the amount and quality of the food that we’d eaten.

Last but not least, I must mention the staff who couldn’t have been more friendly and welcoming. All in all it was a very enjoyable lunch.
