“Tasty restaurant in heart of Lille”
Reviewed June 5, 2012

Stopped by on a Monday evening and had a very enjoyable and filling two course meal (a third course was out of the question given the large portions!). The Braised beef cooked with beer and gingerbread was very plentiful, tender and somewhat unusual taste.I picked it because it was a Northern french speciality. My wife had the Pork fillet with goat cheese and tapenade topping (it's a paste made of olives) which was similary tasty and plentiful. To drink, the red grimbergen beer is a refreshing change from UK lagers if you like to try something local and different. Service was friendly and efficient and some chilled sounds over the sound system and the cosy interior made for a very pleasant experience. Perhaps if the beef had been less filling there might have been room for the delicious sounding white chocolate mousse or chocolate souffle. Price was reasonable too at about 65 euros for the two of us.

“A great experience”
Reviewed January 16, 2012

We dropped into this restaurant for lunch and were lucky to get a table as it was very busy. The place is a typical French Brasserie, or maybe it's how a typical French Brasserie should be. Great atmosphere with the sound of animated talk in the background and staff rushing about. And the occasional small dog (of course). We loved it.
Oh, and the food is pretty good as well.

“Beautiful food and wine”
Reviewed January 28, 2010

Cannot recommend it enough. Had a lovely lazy Sunday afternoon lunch and drink. Had lovely Broccoli soup and some beautiful Bordeaux red recommended by the waiter, who was lovely. Great place will definitely come back when in Northern France next! I will go out of my way...

“Fab camembert!”
Reviewed June 10, 2008

Located on the corner of Rue de Basse on the edge of Vieux Lille. Food was excellent, substantial portions, good service in a very atmospheric setting. Would recommend the baked camembert for starter - not for the faint hearted!!
Good value, we paid just under 65 euros for 2 1/2 courses (my wife and I shared dessert) and a bottle of wine. Set menu is worth looking at.
