short walk to centre of town, very helpfull staff, great food.will be staying here again. the hotel dates back to the 15th century when it was a hospice. standard rooms are good, air con, mini bar. plenty of electric sockets. wifi is free but need to get the code from reception every 24 hrs. they could offer to slip it under your room door every morning.

Not far from the Eurostar station in Lille is this gem of a hotel. The building was a hospice opened in 1462 by Jean de la Cambe (nicknamed Gantois hence the name of the hotel). You walk into a smart boutique style reception on the edge of what was the nuns courtyard of the hospice, now a sophisticated bar and lounge with an extremely high glass ceiling and viewed from all around the hotel corridors. Off the lounge is the old chapel which still exists. I was met by Willy on reception who was one of the very efficient friendly reception personnel who immediately took control of the check in process and saw me to my room. Along the way he gave me a tour of the features of the hotel and explained the history which was very interesting. My room was in the new refurbished part of the hotel and we passed through the old "cells" of the nuns preserved and behind which was an up to date fabulous room which one of my colleagues was given. A further long walk around the corridors and we arrived at my fabulous room. A hallway containing a separate toilet and then the wardrobe and mini bar, turn the corner into another hallway to the bathroom and then finally the bedroom. The bathroom had a very high ceiling containing a large bath tub (quite high if that is an issue for you) with powerful shower above. A boutique style basin without a plug and with good reason as it was not a bowl (you will discover). Lovely towels and quality toiletries but not much of it, you will have to find the housekeeper and obtain additional supplies if you are staying longer than one night, at the same time ask for larger quantities to be left in your room daily. The bedroom walls were covered in lovely new panelling. The room has a flat screen TV, good lighting controls and plenty of power outlets. Water (at a charge) and other amenities not free. In the wardrobe out in the hallway is the safe and a stocked mini bar. Small wardrobe and shelves and tea/coffee making facility. The bed is very comfortable and there are comfortable pillows in the wardrobe, the ones on the bed are not. Good bed linen.

There is a very efficient air conditioner and the windows open fully if, like me, you prefer fresh air at night.

The restaurant is very good indeed and breakfast has everything you will need, both hot and cold food on the buffet. I did not eat any other meal in the restaurant but have it on good authority from other guests that the food is excellent.

The staff at this hotel are amazing, there if you want them and not if you don't. They all are very smart and lovely people.

I have never been to Lille before and I was pleased to find a thriving town full of shops restaurants and night life. Easy access from the station and not far from the UK - FABULOUS!

Overall
I love this hotel and will definitely be back again with my partner (I was on a tour group for this visit). I fully recommend it.

My daughter and I spent just one night in Lille and were lucky enought to have chosen to stay at L'Hermitage Gantois. What a gem! Just ten minutes walk from Euro Lille station and a five minute walk from la Grand Place.

The room was large and airy with very high ceilings .... a lovely bathroom and separate loo (which was, admittedly, a bit like a cell!!!). Comfy beds, fluffy robes and slippers and Hermes toiletries.

The hotel is a mixture of original features and ultra modern ..... the public areas furnished in restful duck-egg blue leather seating, and interesting works of art.

The staff were all efficient and attentive and all round it was a most pleasant stay.

It wasnt the cheapest option, but at was advertised as a 5star hotel, and I think it was worth the money. (€160 per night)

Just arrived back from 3 nights at this cracking hotel celebrating my 60th birthday , We got a excellent deal booked through the Otel site.
The reception and waiting staff quite cleary have been well trained , most helpful and it was nice to receive a potted history of the building.
Room was nice size , Aircon , separate WC & lovely bathroom.
Breakfast which was included in the price was superb with a choice of cerals ,bacon , sausages , scrambled eggs , bolied eggs , smoked salmon , hams and croissants etc.
The location is about a 15 min slow walk from the Eurostar station and approx 10/15 mins into the centre of Lille which is a friendly place , loads of resturants , bars and shops to suit all age groups.
I was not disappointed and lived up to me expectations and would recommend Lille for a 2/3 day break.

This hotel is excellent. Good price for such high quality. We stayed there two nights.
When arriving, we could check in immediately, although we were early. The valet parking was very convenient and reasonably priced (€25/night). The staff was very helpful and kind. We booked a privilege room, which was very clean and spacious. The bathroom was a bit small compared to the size of the room, but convenient. It's about 10min walk from the hotel to Pace Rihour, so location is ok.
Breakfast was a little bit disappointing... I expected more from a 5 star hotel, however, staff was again very helpful when asking for an omelet, but I would have expected more choice in bread, cheese, …
Beds were wonderful, we slept really very well. Also the checkout was smooth. We checked out, but wanted to pick up the car 3 hours later. When coming back to the hotel to get the car keys, the luggage was already stored in the trunk of the car. Nice service.
I would stay there again.

Room Tip: I would avoid a room on the ground floor... the floors is nice, with tiles, which of course make a l...

The hotel is located in a restored historical building. They managed to combine the old and the modern in a very balanced way. Most of the personnel is friendly but at the checkout we weren't treated very nicely. There was some confusion around the rate of the valet parking, we felt we misunderstood, but the person at the checkout (George) did not treat us correctly. Everything else was perfect.
