The price for students is only 4 euro's. Not so much for this big museum. We spended there about 3 hours and still hadn't see everything, but went out because we were so hungry (so eat enough before you visit it..). My opinion is that the museum has a great collection due to its variety. There are midieval artefacts, stone sculptures of Rodin and other famous ones, a collection of pottery. A big collection of paintings from 1500 until contemporary art. And my special interest went to the big groundplans in the basement of cities like Lille, Ieper, Maastricht. They were made for military purposes and very nice to see how that cities looked like 1700. So for everyone there is something to see. Also the building is very nice, because of the restauration is has some modern parts. The only dissapointment is that some information on the audio guide was not available in dutch, perhaps in english everything was translated, but still... Make sure you have enough time for this, at least 3 hours is a minimum if you want to stroll around and have a look.
