Paix means "peace" and we found it peaceful both with our room (#36) and helpful staff who spoke good English. Our room was up several stairs (there is a lift) and at the back of the hotel. So no view as such but it was very clean and quiet (windows closed as we stayed in November). A big room with settees and separate toilet to the bathroom. Art prints all around the hotel and a bright paint job of the doors makes this a cute, central hotel. Breakfast was extra but ideal, as eggs dishes were made to order.

Room Tip: room #36 is an end room so probably bigger than most. plenty of windows but no view

Stayed for 2 nights in a triple room. Everything you would need for a city break, nothing showy but really nice. Lovely breakfast area & very close to everything in Lille. Staff speak perfect English & can't do enough for you. Very good pancake place just up the road too!

I stayed here with my father and I loved it.

The hotel is a stone's throw from the main square and close to the Eurostar train station. It is small, but cozy and although the decor is old it is not unkempt. The rooms were clean and had working TV and free wi-fi.

Breakfast was excellent but most of all the staff were wonderful. They were always helpful and always friendly. I'd readily go back.

Second time we've stayed at this hotel. Cosy and clean , and very well located. The Braderie weekend was the reason for our visit, and this hotel is perfect, to enjoy everything from the marathon, stalls , restaurants and bars. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly.

I took a day trip to Lille to see what another part of France would be like, so I stayed for only a night in this hotel. It is rather easy to find (along Rue de Paris), and is located very close to the city square. Lille is a rather small town, and I found that to be very charming. The room in this Hotel was small (bigger than the one I stayed at in Paris though) but cosy. I liked the bed, but was a bit disappointed with the shower. Nevertheless, it is a very good hotel and I would recommend it to anyone looking to explore this city.

Special mention to counter staffs. I liked your service!
- Could speak English
- Very, very helpful staff.

We took a train trip to Avignon, returning via 2 nights in Lille at the Hotel de la Paix. It was excellent value - a 10-15 minute walk from Lille Europe station and bang in the middle of town with every attraction - and countless restaurants and bars - within walking distance. During our stay the facade of the hotel was hidden by scaffolding as there was work being carried out. We had room 18 on the second floor. This was just about big enough. It could probably be stuffy in very hot weather but cosy in the winter. The ensuite shower room had plenty of room. The hotel appears to have been relatively recently refurbished and all areas were spotlessly clean. The decor - warm, dark reds, oranges and greens, with plenty of pictures, mirrors and furniture in the public areas and bedrooms - suits the building very well and felt very French. There is a splendid central spiral staircase. There is a lift to all floors. The bar/breakfast room is comfortable but appears not much used. We were the only people in there each evening. The breakfast was good value. The service was polite and efficient and there was always someone available.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are probably quieter, although Lille does not seem to be very noisy anyway.

Long weekend break in Lille, travelling by Eurostar.

The hotel is very easy to walk to from the railway station and easy to find.

The location could not be much better, a very short stroll to the main square and the old town which stretches away beyond.

We had breakfast on our first morning, but got up early on the second specifically to have breakfast in the Wazemmes market. The hotel breakfast was good value.

The lack of a restaurant is not an issue, with so many fine restaurants on the hotel's 'doorstep.' Trip Advisor will lead you to the better restaurants.

Nothing to say against this hotel.

Room Tip: We had room 30 on the top floor. This is at the rear of the hotel and was very quiet.
