“Highly recommend this centrally located hotel”
Reviewed March 29, 2011

I stayed at this hotel on a 3-day girls shopping weekend and can't fault it. Excellent location with bars, restaurants and shops on your doorstep. 5 min stroll to the old part of town with gorgeous bistros and beautiful clothes and homeware shops.

Decor is pretty cheesy - lots of gold and dodgy repo paintings, so not your boutique hotel experience. However room was light and airy, high ceilings, spotlessly clean, lux marble bathroom, juliet balcony, well priced and staff friendly and accommodating. Double glazed windows so very quiet for centre of town. 12pm checkout also a winner!

Recommend a cocktail at the bar directly next door - you can access via a door in the hotel lobby. Don't be put off by dated exterior! Was expecting flashing disco lights but actually rather chic, good DJ and table service cocktails.

Top hotel for a weekend break, with family or girlfriends,

We stayed here for a three night city break, having taken the Eurostar from London. The hotel was right in the centre of Lille, only about a 10min walk from the train station. The location was great, we booked a room with a view over the square which was lovely, especially with the Christmas Market on, as there was a Ferris wheel in the square which we looked straight onto. The windows were double glazed, and there was no problem with noise from outside in the square, although they did have loud music playing you could hardly hear it.

Rooms were modern and well equiped, and everything was clean and in good order. There are many restaurants nearby although not many bars, and we did find the drinks expensive although not unusually so for France. We did have a bit of a wander and found some pubs along the Rue de Solferino where the prices were much more reasonable and lively than around the Place Rihour.

There are buses and trains within easy reach, but we mostly walked everywhere, although we did take the city tour from the information centre which was good.

Overall, I was very pleased with my stay here. I traveled to Lille for work, and stayed for 6 nights in the Best Western Bellevue. The location is phenomenal - right in the heart of Vieux Lille, steps from the Rihour Metro station, and from tons of shops and restaurants. The rooms were spacious, clean and nicely decorated. Unlike previous reviewers, my bathroom had certainly been updated. It was also spacious with a full bath and hand-shower, a rarity by European standards. There was a flat-screen TV in my room, with 2 English channels, including BBC News. The room itself is decorated in a Henry XVI style (obviously not real antique furniture), fitting with the classic style of the hotel.

The only disappointments were: 1) Very thin walls - when neighbours watched TV or spoke on phone, I could hear everything. 2) The wireless internet was VERY slow and spotty, dropping out randomly, making Skype calls difficult. Internet access was free, so I suppose I shouldn't complain! If these two issues weren't present, I would certainly have given this hotel 5 stars.

We stayed in a lovely room overlooking the square. It was very clean and a nice overall atmosphere. A perfect location for walking, sightseeing, train, shopping and restaurants. It was recommended to us and I understand why. The view was marvelous and the staff were very helpful and courteous. Great stay.

Stayed here for 4 nights for a Lille event. The location could not be better. Spacious rooms, but the decor is dated in some of them. The beds were fairly comfortable, bathrooms adequate. A tad pricey, though for a 3 star hotel. The public areas are large, in a faded -French - past-its-prime sort of way. Clean, but you can tell this hotel has been here for a while.

Moved from one room near the bar, due to excessive noise which went on until @2AM. I travel with a white noise machine, but it was no match for the music.

The staff is very courteous, but I did not have any particular requests. As the bakery, Paul, is nearby, I did not have breakfast here.

Next door is a post office, and ATM at the other end of the block, as is restaurant row and the Metro station. For those who are mobility challenged, there are four steps up from the street, but an elevator inside the hotel.

I plan on staying here again.

Stayed here for two nights recently and found it very agreeable - It was around a 10 minute walk from the Eurostar terminal in a very central location - Staff spoke excellent English and were very accomodating, allowing us both an early check-in and a late check-out - Breakfast was very good and reasonably priced - Bed was extremely comfortable - Paid extra for a room with a view over the square and I'd recommend this as it provides good people-watching opportunities but manages to remain quiet too! - TV only has French channels on it but then it is in France so no suprises there - Bathroom was nicely furnished and fully marble tiled - Room had a very traditional feel to it, other than the peculiar clear perspex chair which was at odds with the rest of the decor! - All public areas of the hotel seemed clean and tidy and in good repair - Overall I would highly recommend this hotel for a short stay in Lille
