My 5th time staying here and was pleased to see the renovations which have taken place in the rooms.I have been coming to Lille for the past 10 years and although I have stayed at other hotels, always come back to The Opera Grand Place.

Much needed update of decor means large bathrooms with modern amenities, comfortable beds, a fridge and great to now see a kettle in each room.

I still think 15 euros is a lot to pay for breakfast but there is a good choice of breads, pastries, jams, juices, some hot food, cheeses, cold meats, fresh fruit salad, yogurts etc. the coffee was excellent - they now have an espresso machine!

Our room wasn't ready when we arrived at midday and we had to wait 25 mins, but the friendly receptionist who spoke very good english apologised and gave us a gratis coffee whilst we waited.

I would recommmend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in Lille

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor at the back for a quiet room - the street outside can get noisy especially on F...

This time hotel seems more up to date when during last visit, but still keeping nice old details in rooms. And marvelous stairs... Meanwhile braekfest is good for France, but would be better choice of hot meals...

Room Tip: Now (after reconstruction) I'm not sure, but seems rooms facing streets (not yard) are better.

Very satisfied with this hotel on my one night stay. The room was spacious, the breakfast buffet included in the price was good, free wifi and 2 mins walk from the main square. No complaint whatsoever.

Small, cold and out of date...this must have been the smallest room I've ever had! Needs some money spent on it ASAP! Bar is very tired indeed.

Staff were very good as a plus, and is close to the opera

Wifi is free

Am staying at mecure while writing this review. The hotel is undergoing a refurb, half of the hotel is finished the other is still being worked on. Our room is really quite small, there is very little storage and what there is quite inadequate - there's one small shelf for clothes and the wardrobe space not deep enough for a coat hanger. I'd say most of the fittings have been renewed but a few are still old ones, this spoils the finish.
It feels like too many fancy bits have been crammed in and not enough thought has gone into the needs of the traveller.
The staff that we have met so far have been really nice and the hotel is clean with a perfect location.

The hotel is just by the opera car park and a 2 min walk from the centre of town. Staff are very helpful and friendly, they offer a free map of lille and will direct you to the tourist sights, restaurants etc. Rooms recently refurbished are comfortable and modern french! Breakfast is good, only downside the bar in the evening is under staffed but there are plenty of other bars (cheaper too) Lille is lovely and has some amazing shops and restaurants ideal for 1 night as its just 1.hr 15mins from calais tunnel or spoil yourself with several nights there is plenty to do.
