“Give it a try!”

We had our dinner here. They were super busy but the service wasn't too bad at all. the food was good...as was the atmosphere. Prices fairly good too.

“Wonderful mussels!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2013 via mobile

On day trip to Lille we had lunch here. Mussels with mushrooms and lardons. A strange combination but it worked. Served with soft chips and bread, I couldn't manage it all but really enjoyed it. Really good and when the bill came it was on special and was only 8 euro 40! Bargain!

“Good value and location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013

Like many of the restaurants by the grande place its very busy and the tables are close to each other but its great for people watching and enjoying the atmosphere. We ate at lunchtime on the 16th August, a lovely hot day, and thoroughly enjoyed the moules in white wine sauce and a Foy beer. At 8.90 euros for the moules and frites, how can you say thats not good value ? Would definitely recommend for a lunchtime meal

“Not the greatest food”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2013

Good location for people watching, but my meal was not good.

It was supposed to be rooster in beer, but it was chunks of chicken on the bone with little meat to speak of, drowning in a creamy butter sauce that gave no hint of the beer promised. Casserole with fries and salad never works for me - would have been better with boiled potatoes or rice?

Beer was okay but expensive due to the location.

Won't be coming back in a hurry.

“The microwave is definitely overworked in this restaurant”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2013

Our waiter was really friendly and efficient. Unfortunately that was the only good thing about our experience at Café de Foy. The mussels in garlic & cream came SANS cream, the mussels in white wine tasted more like mussels in the synthetic lemon juice that is sold in supermarkets in lemon shaped bottles. The cod in beer comes with asparagus & rice - what little there is on the plate seems to be microwaved and perhaps even re-microwaved. I dislike writing bad reviews but this is one of those tourist restaurants that relies on passing tourists and one-off customers rather than by offering decent food.
