“Great food, friendly and informal setting”

Some unusual and delicious starters (loved the creme brulee with chorizo) and interesting cuts of beef which the waitress was happy to explain. Had a (new to me) langue de chat beef steak which was perfectly cooked and which came with great fries. The service was lovely - we struck a deal with the charming waitress that we would practise our (rusty and lamentable) French and she would practise her (newer and much more fluent) English. A good time was had by all.

The restaurant is small and just a few mins walk from the very heart of town. We'll return!

“Great service from our waitress well translated with humour and all in all decent food. Excuse the spelling waitress was called ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2012

Arrived for our meal for 8pm restaraunt was quiet when we arrived on a Tuesday evening but started to fill up after 9pm. Host/owner quickly realised we were English heathens and our lovely waitress arrived and from the opening line started to have banter with us about the menu. Classic French dishes with a twist but good food all in all. Had the chorizo creme brûlée to start which was lovely followed by steak, should have had the cats tongue though rather than mine as lovely cut of beef and well cooked too! Puddings were very nice and a good wine choice too!

Good luck with your studies Violena

“Fantastic Service and Quality Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

On the face of it an above average steak and chips restaurant in France, but the service really made it stand out. The young lady who served us (the name of whom, to my eternal regret, I have forgotten) was outstanding; not only was her English excellent but she had a superb sense of humour. All of the staff were helpful and welcomed our short-notice group of 8 without any grmbles. I would visit this restaurant again in a heartbeat. I can recommend the chorizo creme brulee, any of the steaks and the cafe gourmand; but all of the choices are beautifully cooked, well presented and delivered with a healthy dose of banter.

“A real gem in Lille”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2012 via mobile

Picked restaurant based on previous reviews. Weren't disappointed. A little out of the centre but still do-able on foot.

Restaurant is small but nice feel. The waitress was extremely helpful explaining the menu. Main courses were delicious. Desserts very tempting. Overall good value. We had 2 courses with 2 bottles of wine and water for €35 per head.

“It does what it says on the tin!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2012

This restaurant knows its strengths - good quality meat cooked simply - and plays to them well. We went on a Saturday night and the restaurant was full of locals. Service was friendly and helpful. We both had the cote a l'os which is a 500g piece of steak served with a big bowl of frites on the side. Whilst not needed due to the size of the main course our desserts of lemon tart and chocolate pudding were tasty too. Bring your appetite!
