Wow this totally floated our boat! Go down a little corridor off Rue de Saint Etienne into a small treelit courtyard surprising us with a little gem of a restaurant. Shabby Chic interior with a wonderful candlelit ambiance with a crackling fire, Edith Piaf singing her 'thang' and attentive but not overbearing service with first class French cuisine at an amazing value for money! Overall tres superbe! and we WILL be going back again!

Just had a fantastic meal with my wife and three kids (6, 3, and baby). Service was quick and the waitress was extremely friendly and helpful to us (Australians speaking only limited french) recommending local and traditional French dishes and wine. It was a very pleasant dinner out with the family. Also we knew it must be great when we were th only English speaking people in the place and a continuous stream of French people were trying to get a table. We were lucky to get a table without a reservation but tip is to arrive at 7pm as by 8-8.30pm the place was buzzing and full and they were turning peopl away. Also make sure you try one of the Ch'it beers, there are beautiful. They made us feel very welcome with the kids. A great night! I would love to eat there again in spring or summer.

Good food, great atmosphere, friendly staff. Children (7, 10 yrs) were welcome, though they were the only one's there. Food was good and reasonably priced. Would definitely eat here again.

We finished our recent mini break in Lille with a lovely lunch at Les Compagnons de la Grappe which is quite possibly my favourite restaurant in town. It's tucked away down a little alley not far from the centre of town with a very fine terrace out front which is packed in the spring and summer - on a chilly day in late November you will want to bag a much sought after table in one of the two comfortable rooms inside.

This is a popular place with good reason and I would advise you to book in advance or turn up early even in the depths of winter. Once you have got yourself a table unless you are in a rush I would advise that you get yourself an aperitivo or a beer, sit back, relax, enjoy the people watching and take some time over the menu - unlike a lot of restaurants, in London for example, you will not find yourself being pressured into ordering toute de suite .

You will find all the classic local dishes on the menu and much more - this is one of those "I would happily order everything" places. The waiting staff are friendly, informative and obviously like working here which makes for a good experience. I would not hesitate in asking for there advice if you are unsure about what to eat or drink.

If you are a wine lover you will be happy as there is a good selection at a reasonable price - if you are on a budget you will drink well as there are some nice wines available by the glass.

My final tip would be to turn up before 1pm on a weekday and order the "dish of the day" (after that it may well be sold out) - don't worry what the dish is because it will be very tasty and a bargain at €8.50.

I am already looking to a return visit and a fine meal on the terrace in the sun - a special place with an exciting menu and plenty of good vibes .......

This little restaurant is tucked away up an alley off Rue Lepelletier in the heart of Vieux Lille. It is very popular with the locals and it is easy to see why. The food was fantastic and the portions generous. We had smoked haddock and leek pie for starters and Assiette Du Nord (four local dishes) for mains. Unfortunately we could not manage desserts, which is rare for us! The staff were very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was cosy and welcoming. The restaurant also has an excellent outdoor seating area in the courtyard. We will definitely eat here as our first choice on future visits to Lile and would recommend it highly to others.
