My husband and I together with a friend spent 3 nights in the hotel 21st to 24th May. The rooms are quite small as is the shower room but everything was clean and worked well. Breakfast was good and all the staff were very pleasant. We returned to the UK on one of the French train drivers strike days and we needed to travel from Dunkirk to Lille. The lady at the reception at the hotel (I think she was called Lucie Anne) really went out of her way to help us. It appeared there were no trains at all to Lille. Lucie Anne rang a local taxi firm to see how much a taxi would be and in the end she managed to get us seats on a coach ti Lille. Thank you Lucie Anne you we're a star and saved the day. We all enjoyed our 3 days in Dunkirk.

Room tip: Rooms at the front are on a main road. Therefore there is some traffic noise

The rooms are clean but small (only one chair for the two of us) and basic, with a lot of traffic noise if you’re facing that way. It’s a little bleak inside, but is only two stars which is perhaps why. We enjoyed an evening meal there: it was good quality and the service is efficient.

We were looking for a place to stay to attend the wine and beer exhibition at the Kursaal in October 2014. We found that many of the hotels were already booked but discovered this one within an easy walk to the Kursaal was still taking guests so we booked using the online forms. We received confirmation quickly and relaxed ready for our trip.

We arrived late on a Friday night and our Sat Nav delivered to the front of the hotel where we were able to park in a bay across the street. We were greeted by Madame who spoke good English and directed us to our rooms, advised us on where we could get breakfast and the times it was available.

Our rooms were all we required a bed, TV, wardrobe, bedside tables, small desk and a shower room. The beds in both rooms we booked were comfortable and we had two comfortable nights at the hotel.

Breakfast was a self-service affair with fruit, juices, eggs beside a contraption into which one placed them to boil, toast, breads, cheeses, cereal, tea and coffee.

We were very happy with the hotel, the breakfast and the evening meal we had in its restaurant (reviewed under the restaurant).

Madame and Monsieur and the members of staff we encountered were friendly and helpful, and we would happily stay here again.

We booked a family room here for a single night stay just to visit the beaches of Dunkirk. The hotel is very dated and dark. When booking a family room we thought it would have a double bed and two singles, but we quite surprised to find two double beds. The kids had to share a bed.

The bathroom has no door at all, so they strung up some towels to give themselves some privacy. The kids toilet is out in the hallway which we found very odd.

The hotel advertised free parking, however were disappointed to find out it was free, but is simply on street only.

The breakfast was quite expensive so we went across the road to the local bakery and got some fantastic cheeper options.

The Wi-fi was free and of a reasonable speed.

The hotel however is in central Dunkirk and close to all amenities.

My wife booked a Saturday night room several months ago. In town that weekend is a wine fair and early booking has always been recommended.
Lo and behold, the hotel rings to say they are double booked and our night has been cancelled.
How can you recommend a hotel that does this?

Room tip: Don't assume your booking will be honoured
