“More than enough space for 4 families”
Reviewed November 13, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We were 4 couples with our assorted children ages 12 to 21. We put all the children downstairs on the ground floor ( I wouldn't have done this if they were under 8) and us adults had the upstairs bedrooms, all large enough with en suite, and enough room for cots or roll out beds etc. we didn't use the extra beds upstairs but there was plenty of room for them. The house was more than big enough, although it was a squeeze round the table with the children being adult sized. We chose to cook each day and the kitchen was large enough with most items you would need. We did have to re think things a bit as there is only one oven, which was a squeeze for 14 (being spoilt at home with 3) so cooking dinner and pudding was difficult etc. There is a large fridge freezer and plenty of crockery. The large living space was perfect for group games and the TV has English channels. There is a large supermarket not far but you would need to go by car. If you opt to take your own towels as its extra, remember to take hand towels for the bathrooms, this was a pain as no one remembered to bring any and some for the floor after showering. This house was very good value and everything was as advertised. We didn't use the garden but it would be lovely in the summer months.

“A great holiday home for a family gathering”

St Andre is a lovely house in a great location, handy for the beach and shops. The surrounding area is great for walking (assuming it's not pouring with rain!) and a good base for exploring other nearby towns. We didn't have great weather when we were there but the house has really good spaces for games and family meals and we all had a very nice holiday. The kitchen is a good size and well laid out and has most of the items you need for a big group. The only minor criticism would be the lack of bathroom mats. Apart from that I would highly recommend this property.

“Fantastic holiday for 4 families - great value for money”
Reviewed July 28, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We were 4 families holidaying together, 8 adults, and 9 children including a 6m old, a crawler, toddlers of varying abilities and kids up to 9yrs. This house proved fantastic value for money, as it came in just over £500 per family per week including our ferry crossings. We had a really wonderful week's holiday!
I have ticked the box that says I recommend this house for families with young children, as we had a great week, so the following points are to provide more detail as there are aspects which could have been better for kids.

ON the upside:
The house itself is good, nice big kitchen, dining space outside (we didnt use the inside dining room other than for the dad's poker night as we had lovely weather).
The price was great, and being such a big house was a must for our group so that the adults could enjoy dinner and drinks after the kids were in bed, knowing the kids were safe and not locked in a different cottage/chalet whatever nearby...
Although pretty much all outings required a car, this was fine as being families we all drove over from the UK anyway - and there is plenty to do nearby from various beaches, to the waterpark, aquarium in Boulogne etc
There is a clever idea of a keypad operated front door which means you dont have to worry about who has the keys and who gets home first, BUT the keypad was very temperamental and would sometimes take many attempts to get in - I am sure this is easily fixed though!

On the downside:
The 'designer staircase' was a bit of a pain for us, with toddlers and crawlers in the household, but we used one of the many sofas to block it off from less able bodies and this worked fine - but it was something we all had to keep eyes out for all week - similarly the staircase down to the ground floor is tiled and quite steep, again a bit of a liability for children. We put an arm chair in front of the door during the day to stop the children accessing it - a bit of a nuisance but better than a tumble!
There is no gate/fence around the property so while the children didnt really tend towards going to the front of the house, we were always aware to keep an eye as they could have got out to the road easily... Similarly, the edging of the decking in the garden was a pretty precarious drop on one side, to the boundary of the property - while it might not be easy for the owner to alter the staircases, a cheap but sturdy fence on the side of this decking would make the garden feel much safer - and a gate at the top of the shallow steps from the garden to the driveway would also help parents feel reassured... that said, kids have more common sense than we give them credit for and we didnt have any accidents
The accommodation layout was not ideal for our party with the ideal childrens rooms on the ground floor, and therefore parents on top floor (living space in between) but we decided we could come with monitors and cope given the good location/price of the villa. In the end it worked better than that as one set of parents took a ground floor room enabling some of the children to be on the top floor, so children waking in the night were a bit easier to cope with!

All in all, these downsides are worth noting but were all fairly easily overcome, so shouldnt be a reason to put anyone off!

Also, there were spare z beds and sofa beds in various rooms so it's easy to rearrange the bedroom layouts etc to suit your group size and make up

The kitchen was well equipped with 2 sinks, 2 kettles 2 toasters etc so good for a large group - although some sharper knives wouldnt go amiss!

Overall we had a really good time, and would definitely recommend it for overall value

(FYI for anyone who books here, we needed a hospital at one point and couldnt find information anywhere in the house or the internet - the nearest A&E is in Berck about a 15min drive)

Just wanted to say thanks for a lovely holiday at St Andre. The photos still don't do it justice. The place is perfect for a break with friends. So much space, love the bar area - hilariously decadent! Kids loved the sand pit in the garden - great location, easy to get to. Would recommend Bagatelle theme park if you're coming with kids. Something for everyone, 15 minutes down the road and under £20 each. I now need to work off 4 solid days of cheese, bread, and wine!

Hope to come back again soon.
