We have lived and travelled through the world and currently live in NY. Tonight we decided to avoid all the Michellin Star restaurants and go with Trip Advisors recommendations., while in France.

Could not have been better. We have been to Paris, Lyon ...all of France and have to say were highly impressed with the food. Great service from the family that owns the Business. If it were not our last night we would have repeated. Will come back.

Enjoy and congrats to the owners and Matt our owner/server.

Do not expect the overly sophisticated French ambience, this is a fun, familiy run, high quality restaurant.

We decided to have dinner in this restaurant after reading the positive reviews on Tripadvisor. Unfortunately we were not able to reserve a table here on the first of the two days we spent in Toulouse, but succeeded on the second one.

From the first call to the restaurant I could feel the special and lively atmosphere of the place. Upon arrival we found the restaurant crowded: reserving here is definitively recommended! The dinner was started by a detailed description of the menu by the owner (a rarity in this kind of restaurants) and dotted from time to time by enjoyable quips.

The dining experience was excellent: starting with a hot Rocamandour cheese, continuing with a duck breast accompanied by an excellent gratin dauphinois and finishing with a surprising maroon cream with raspberry sauce, all dishes were perfectly well cooked and enjoyable.

Just a little warning for non-French speaking guests: We are French mother tongue speakers and this has been essential in order to enjoy all the jokes and stories told by the owner and waiters. The overall experience and atmosphere could be less enjoyable for non-French speaking guests.

Just back from a great one night stop in Toulouse, which we will definitely come back. We were spending the night there as we had an early flight after a family wedding nearby so just walked about bar hopping taking in the city. After stopping to look at this restaurant Max, one of the two waiters, very politely offered us a card with the restaurants details (I think he guessed we were just wondering around) and took the time to explain the menu to us, the price of the main course includes a starter.

After getting another drink we decided to risk it and just go for it. Max saw us at the door and got us to a table. After looking at the menu Max, in perfect English, explained the dishes to us with a touch of humour (the first time he tried the chef's chicken supreme he cried it was so good!). Really, though, he perfectly described his personal favourites and the ones we liked the sound of. My wife had the chicken and I the duck with a good bottle of red to compliment each dish. We loved it, the dauphinoise potatoes were so light and creamy and the sauces with each dish exquisite. We met the other waiter, his brother Matt, who also had great english and humour, and found out it was a small family run place with their Dad entertaining the guests. For us, this just made it all the better.

Will hopefully comeback to enjoy this great place again.

We wisely booked this restaurant because it is often full; we were rewarded by a excellent experience, in a nice and bubbly interior, cool enough for a summer evening. The owner or manager talked us through his menu, emphasizing his regular use of local produce. This perhaps helps to explain his menu: not vast, and full of known dishes - but cooked to perfection. Just a single example: in a few weeks in southern France I had the good luck to sample magret de canard in half a dozen restaurants. The Winter Garden's was the best: perfectly cooked, with just enough fat/skin on top, cut in a cross-hatched pattern to preserve the tenderness of the duck and lose most of the fat at the same time. Service was also excellent, as was the carafe house wine. Not cheap, but I think worth it.
