Great day out at Cite De L'Espace! We went along with our 5 year old son and 21 month old daughter and had a thoroughly enjoyable day.

The ticket price wasn't cheap but you certainly got good value as an attraction - the site is huge and we didn't get to cover it all in the day. The actual rocket itself was a little disappointing with just a couple of floors of attractions /exhibitions at the base. I would have expected to maybe go up further - even just as a lookout or something. The water rockets weren't that entertaining for my son, but given this was an educational thing all in, unsurprisingly, French, he didn't understand a word they were saying so it was all just lots of talking he didn't understand with a bit of demonstration, but the actual final firing of the rockets was a little disappointing given the buildup.

Nevertheless, the exhibitions were all very good, informative, in English, French and Spanish and many of them were interactive making them fun and enjoyable for the kids (& me!) to be interested. We didn't get to the IMAX movies or planetarium showings but there was plenty to keep us entertained.

I had read some bad reviews about this destination and was worried about other travelers saying there was not a lot of English translation. But they couldn't have been more wrong. Not only did I have an audio guide, all of the descriptions inside the museum were in Englis. This was certainly not just a must do activity for kids - a great day out for adults with many new things to experience and learn. We had 4 hours Cite de l'Espace and could have spent 8 if we had the time. Great value destination and fun for all ages.
We went in August during school holidays but as everything is so spaced out we didn't have to
encounter lines or long waits at all. There was a long to buy tickets initially and this took about 15 mins. You can preorder and tickets online though and was no line for online ticket collection. If you wish to take an audio guide you must leave behind an ID as deposit/security. Go early and leave plenty of time to see and experience all this has to offer - especially the IMAX movies!

We visited when we had a few hours to kill in Toulouse. Plenty of parking and no queue for tickets. Helpful 'animateur' at entrance helped us plan which attractions to go to. But the antiquated audio headphone system (about to be replaced - but meanwhile visitors would be better off without it) was completely unreliable so non-French speakers were left fiddling around to no avail instead of being able to enjoy/understand the audio of e.g. films or displays. Worse than useless. In fact the whole Cite had a distinct feeling of being past its sell-by date. For the price, and given the charm of other places in this area (hilltop villages, rivers), I would not recommend Cite de L'Espace for families with young children. And if you do go I would recommend not using the dodgy audio kit unless they have upgraded from the clunky walkman-style ones we had. Having said that, I can see that the experience may be more interesting for teenagers and upwards. We didn't explore all the available didactic possibilities.

We decided to go to Cite de l'Espace first thing in the morning to have in time for the rest of the Toulouse in the afternoon/evening! That turned out to be a wishful thinking as usual ! Parked up easily at 10am and joine the long line for the tickets (expensive) and that took us to just 5 min to 11! The first thing grabs the kids (and adults alike) attention are the Moon Runner (M R) and Le Siege Rotatif (L S R) with lines forming real fast for the 11am start and already long one ahead of us .The only clever thing we managed to do was to queue up on the M R and send my son to line up on the L S R ! This latter one stops at 12 which by strike of pure luck my son managed to get as the last person not to mention the operator seemed to be on a go slow too . By the time my son finished at the L S R we were getting closer to the to top.Only at this time they decided to reduce people's misery and send another operator in this case a very nice jolly enthusiastic girl as opposed the robotic guy already there to help ,since there are three simulators for various size/weight .This was a relief to people behind us and we benefitted from girls pleasant attitude! This took us tired and hungry to the lunch time .The Astronaut Restaurant is ok with friendly staff and acceptable food and not cheap too.
After lunch resumed the "Experienc" watching couple of films in an IMAX and the Dome both interesting and educational amongst others at about 5:15 pm despite the kids desire to do the Moon Runner one more time was no chance since the line was even longer so decided to call it a day! Couldn't be bothered with the rest of Toulouse drove back home! Called in a this village called Bram for some snacks and drinks and it was a delight to explore the Circular Village for a short walk .

It's a great place for kids to be, with interactive displays and lots to do and learn for them. Plan your time there so that you can make the most of show times and minimize walking around (it can get very tiring).
