“Not sure why you would pay the entrance fee to the cloister”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

The Church is amazing and you definitely should go there and see the unusual pillar construction. Entrance to the church is free, but to get in the cloister you pay 4 euro each. I am all for supporting the institution, but if you are budget conscious, skip the cloister - there is nothing that is (apparently) of extra special interest in there, aside from a bathroom. If you've seen the cloister at the Musee Des Augustins then there's not too much more to see here.

“Stunning”

Amazing architecture, with a huge circular mirror so you can view the ceiling looking down instead of up!

“Breathtaking architecture”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

Although surrounded by unprepossessing maintenance works, the church was still open and takes your breath away when you enter. The massive columns, unusually down the middle of the nave, branch out into 'palm-tree' arches on the roof.

There's not much else to see in the church (unless you pay extra for the cloisters) but make sure you go to the end pillar to look into a mirror around the base so that you can see the 'fronds' above in more detail without cricking your neck!

For those of a mathematical bent, the lycee (college) opposite was the home of Pierre Fermat (of 'Fermat's Last Theorem' fame), and you can find his statue in the Musee d'Augustins about a quarter of a mile away.

“pretty average big church”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

This place was big. I didn't actually go in the crypts, so maybe there is soemthign amazing down there. The Basilique Sernin was a bit more impressive.

“Favourite church in Toulouse”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

This was my favourite church in Toulouse. Uncluttered, beautiful central columns towering upwards to a magnificent ceiling. There was a feeling of space, silence and peacefulness. The stained glass windows were magnificent and the red colour reflected onto the walls. We paid a few euro extra to see the lovely cloisters and old religious buildings at the back.
