What a gorgeous church! Everywhere you look there is magnificence. The ceiling is unbelievable and there is a mirror installed at the bottom of one of the columns so that you can give your neck a rest.

Very impressive building in Toulouse, well worth a look if you are around. We were only passing so didn't go in.

This church is absolutely gorgeous and should be on every visitors 'to-do' list for Toulouse. I meandered across it, and am so happy that I did. The building is stunning and the church installed a mirror at the base of one of the columns. This is a simple addition that creates for some dramatic closeups of the ceiling, as well as great photo opportunities. Don't miss this.

Elise les Jacobins and cloisters is one church which must be seen if visiting Toulouse. It really is quite magnificent and a much better choice than the Basilique Saint-Sernin. A magnificent example of Gothic architecture with soaring vaults, the church is the home to the tomb of St Thomas Aquinas. The cloisters should also be visited if you want to really experience this wonderful venue to its fullest. There are often musical events held here and if you get the opportunity to go to one, do it. There is also a lovely garden courtyard in the centre of the cloisters.
Tip: visiting the church is free as are all churches I've come across in France. For a small fee you can visit the cloisters but they are well worth it for a complete experience.
Tip 2: If you have limited time in Toulouse, visit this church rather than Saint Sernin.

Love or loath Gothic, this church is the center piece of an extraordinary ensemble of buildings. Enter the atrium and be dazzled by the flood of natural light beaming from the huge stained-glass windows. It defies description. Stop..... and take in the single row of seven 22m high columns which spread their fanned vaulting like palm trees. If this does not move you, perhaps you are as stone-still as Saint Thomas Aquinas, who is buried beneath the alter. This edifice moves you, as you appreciate the absolutely beautifully crafted architecture.
Next door is the cloister de Jacobins which has a delightful box-hedged garden.
We were here in September to hear the piano recitles and found it sublime. By the way, check out the art exhibitions in the 14th century refectory. Definitely worth the three euros.
