Hotel de Bordeaux

My spouse was in Toulouse attending a conference and we stayed here, right next to the train station. While this is convenient, there is a not-insignificant vagrant population that sleeps and drinks around the train station. There is also a strip club a few doors down from the hotel. That said, however, we never felt in any danger at any time of day/night and it was certainly quiet enough for us to get a good night's sleep, even on the ground floor (I am extremely picky about this). The hotel itself was very clean and pleasant, no frills. The price was affordable and we didn't request the breakfast option, so I can't comment on that, but if you opt out, there are many pastry/cafe options nearby (including the train station). What really impressed us, however, was the friendliness of the staff. The hotelier patiently suffered through my Spanish-infused French (we'd spent the previous week in Barcelona) before answering my questions in perfect English. Both day and night staff were excellent and helpful to us.

To sum up, nothing fancy here. Basic accommodations, convenient though slightly shady location, good price, exceeding pleasant and professional staff. We would stay again (we are seasoned, budget-conscious travelers).

I chose this hotel on a recent business trip due to its proximity to the train station and fairly low price. It served our purposes just fine, although it was nothing fancy. The rooms aren't much bigger than the queen sized bed and the bathroom was also rather small. However, it was very tidy and the staff was friendly. I don't think the staff spoke much English since they seemed grateful for my broken French, so that might be a problem for other travelers.

I had some concern about the roughness of the neighborhood, but it seemed fairly safe except for the homeless drunks near the station. As long as you leave the hotel and turn right instead of left, you will find nicer areas and some good restaurants. We liked the Duplex for tapas.

Finally, I would recommend skipping the breakfast. It's not much for what you pay for it.

After we arrived in Toulouse early in the morning we learned the hotel we reserved got cancelled on us. We happened to stumble in hotel de Bordeaux while looking for another hotel. It is located right across from the train station. We were tired from walking on our feet . The front desk guy(can't remember name)was kind and let us check in since the room was ready even though check-in wasn't until late afternoon. It was a clean room and was good enough for us for 2 nights. Even though it is nearby the station, we weren't bothered with any noise(wouldn't mind noise anyways; after all when you are traveling to different countries that's part of the culture and experience) and we slept with the windows open all night. Canal du midi is right front of the hotel even though I didn't see it until the next day since it is small and is more like ditches behind trees and parked cars. However, our overall experience with this hotel was great. It was rather cheap.
The hotel staff were really informative and kind.Their breakfast, which is included in the room charge was great; something that we didn't expect from small hotel. You get a basket full of breads(rolls, crescents, etc.), cereals, variety of drinks, cheeses, jams, and sweets.
The location near the train station turned out to be great for us. When we visited Carcasson we arrived late at night back at the hotel. It was so convenient since it was right outside the station.
The morning we left we had to catch a train at 7:45. We had breakfast at 7:00 and strolled to the station. There was no rush since it is right next to the hotel.
I don't know if I'll ever get a chance to go back to Toulouse, but If I ever do, I'll stay in this hotel again and again. Would recommend it to anybody.
