“Well priced central location with a bubbly owner”
Reviewed April 22, 2012

The Hotel des Ambassadeurs does not provide any frills - beds are comfortable, bathrooms quite large, telephone and television available, but otherwise basic - nevertheless good price-amenities balance. Breakfast was not included in the room rate. Nevertheless, the owner-receptionist-maintenance man was very knowledgeable and expressed genuine interest in everything. The night receptionist was also very knowledgeable and gave us very good advice. The only down side is the lack of an elevator. While here, make sure to check out the restaurant beneath which serves really good food at a maximum price of 16 euros for a three course meal.

As a group of 16 guys we stayed at the hotel for 2 nights on a stag do to Toulouse. The hotel was great value and the staff were very accommodating – all spoke good English. It was well located for the train station/airport bus link (1 minute away) and city centre (10 minutes walk). The rooms and bathrooms were basic but very clean. Showers were good and there was hot water at all times. Breakfast was reasonable and good value, although there are good patisseries on the street. In our search this was the best value hotel we found in Toulouse, and the flights from Gatwick were the 3rd cheapest to any European city – we did flights and 2 nights hotels for under £100 a head. A few of us had to share double beds in 3 people rooms to keep costs down, but the hotel happily provided us with extra bedding.

Whilst we were ‘reasonably’ well behaved, there was another big group of rowdy welsh guys who were a mess and were incredibly rude to the manager, so I’m not sure how long they will continue to tolerate stags. We booked through late rooms without breakfast for a great rate.

Also worth mentioning a few of the things we did as it took quite a lot of effort to find stag activiites in Toulouse.

We spent the Saturday morning at an outdoors activity centre doing a competition using mountain bikes and canoes to find clues around a lake (orienteering style) at ‘Base de Loisirs’ in the village of St Ferreol, with archery and climbing. This was about 46 euros a head and included an amazing lunch and wine. We took a minibus through the taxi company Negoti Tourisme which was 320 Euros return. In total the activity including transport was 76 Euros, about £65 each.

We watched six nations rugby at the excellent Melting Pot pub on Boulevard Strasbourg near to the hotel.

We went to Pizzeria Vecchio on Allée Jean Jaurès for dinner and had a private area. The food (pizza) and wine was incredible value and very very good, we had our own private dining area for free and the service was absolutely first rate.

Finally there were loads of bars and nightclubs that primarily cater for the town’s large student population but were perfect for stag dos.

Stayed for four nights - rooms were clean and tidy, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout. Gave very good local advise on restaurants, tourist attractions, and places to avoid. Near the station and well located for going out in town.

Will definitely stay there again when we next visit Toulouse.

Room Tip: There is a flight of stairs leading to the reception area - if you have difficulty with stairs, requ...

My four sisters and I were able to fit in a large room. My favorite thing about Hotel Ambassadeurs is the service. We felt safe and looked after. Our room was reconfigured just for us. They checked in to make sure we were comfortable. Our beds had crisp sheets and fresh duvet covers. I loved laying down and going to sleep in such a cozy bed. The hotel is so close to the train station, everyone can make use of this awesome hotel. If frendly service is what you are looking for stay here.

I stayed there first on October 17 attracted by its handy position to the station. Then I returned two unexpectedly two days later attracted by the helpfulness of the staff. On both occasions someone helped take my luggage up the stairs from ground level to reception and then to my room. All the staff on reception were friendly and Mathias was particularly good at recommending two extremely good restaurants. The one where I had a superb cassoulet is in the same street and the other which is the most beautiful Belle Epoque Hotel is in the main square. Plugs for the bath and hairdryers are available if you ask for them. A great hotel for the price, clean, hospitable staff and extremely handy to the station. The only minus was parts of the street scene were a bit confronting, especially one place where men clustered on the foot path. However I just crossed to the other side or took the Metro from the station into the Centre.

It was a 4-day trip for 3 girls in Toulouse during the Toussaint holiday. We managed find this hidden gem at a very low price, 20euros per person per night. It was a small simple room with 2 beds, a mini tv on the wall, and a nice balcony.
As soon as we walked into the hotel the owner welcomed us warmly and asked us to sit down with him so that he could show us where all the attractions and things to do on the map.
Every night me and the girls would spend some time in the hotel's mini lounge for card games or simply chatting. The owner treated us to drinks and stayed in the bar in case if we needed anything. I had a wonderful stay at the hotel. It definitely made me feel at home outside of home!
