“Nice, convenient hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2013 via mobile

This is a very well-run, small, fairly typical European hotel. That means small rooms and baths and not much fancy, including the street. But service was excellent, the price is right and it's close to Gare Marabeau, the train station. Staff was very helpful, working out via email a credit card issue and making me a reservation for dinner. Toulouse is an interesting city, with lots of young people and activity in the city center, with the Albert right in the middle of it all. And the breakfast was nice. If you want something more commercial, the Pullman might be to your taste. But I prefer small properties, and the Albert fits the bill.

Hotel Albert 1er is a classic, simple, hotel in the very heart of Toulouse. Rooms are somewhat small, in the typical French style, but nicely appointed and modern. The location is fabulous - an easy walk to a wide range of restaurants, the Capitoul, Basilique St-Sernin, the Garonne, and just down the block from the wonderful Marché Victor Hugo. Staff is helpful and informed. The 11 euro breakfast is truly excellent, and better than any other you'll find in the area. We stayed twice - two nights on our arrival in Toulouse, and one night before departure. The last night we paid a bit more for a higher quality room and it was worth the difference.

Room Tip: We faced the street to the back of the hotel, just across from a beaux arts post office with a giant...

We stayed 3 nights in May.Had warm shower once then the rest were cold.Staff on duty had no solution-just remarked that it should not be so...
On several occasions had to wait for up to 3 or 4 minutes to obtain door key upon entering lobby whilst staff attended to other business.
Obvious bias in favour of French-speaking guests.
Breakfast ok.
Will stay elsewhere next time.

Dear Madam, Dear Sir,

I thank you for taking the time to leave your comments following your stay with us.
I am glad to see that you appreciated our location and our organic breakfast served in the hotel.
But at the same time, I am really sorry to see that your stay was not up to your expectations.

Having to wait even a few minutes to obtain your key isn't acceptable to us at all; as we consider it as an example of unacceptable professional misconduct.
As a result of your message, please note that we have immediately advised our team of your comments and that measures have been taken to ensure that such errors will not happen again.

Indeed, we are sorry we were not able to offer you the service you expected and wish to apologize for the disappointment and inconvenience. But, at the same time, we are grateful to you for keeping us informed and help us improve the quality of our service and wish to thank you for it.

Yours very sincerely

At the end of 3 weeks of tiring travel, I needed this hotel! One of few with comfortable, quiet rooms of adequate size for the solo traveler, it answered all my needs. The multilingual staff were helpful and professional, and as others have mentioned, the location for exploring on foot is perfect. A 5-minute walk brought me to the Jeanne d'Arc stop for the euro-saving airport bus when I left. I had a bit of trouble with the free wifi: had to sign into the hotel site repeatedly, but how welcome it was to have wifi at all! The elevator is typically tiny, so plan for a wait if you arrive/leave at popular hours or in high season. My high-season rate worked out to US $104/night, and I think I could have found something cheaper, but who knows if the quality would compare... I appreciated the immaculate condition of my room and bath, too.

Room Tip: The lowest-priced, smallest rooms are of good size and all in the quiet interior of the building but...

We stayed one night following a short visit to Lourdes and our return flight back to the UK from Toulouse airport.
The location is great, literally 2 minutes walk to the Capitole.

We parked our car outside the hotel (not in a parking bay) for a few minutes just to unload our luggage, then drove to the car park- which is at the Jeanne d'Arc underground car park, about a 5 minute walk away. The hotel has a discounted rate of €13 for 24 hours (usually €19). I noticed there was a closer car park at the Victor Hugo, but the hotel didn't mention this one so I assume it would be at the 'full price' of €19 there.

We paid £90 for one night (room only), which is quite pricey, but given the location it was probably wasn't over-priced. The rate also included free wifi in the rooms.

Our room (412) was clean, comfortable and spacious. There was a large flat screen tv and electronic shutters for the 2 windows which for those who like me, like a dark room, is great. There was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, not even a kettle. There was however, a minibar and a safe (which we couldn't work out how to use, so didn't bother). The bed was comfy, firm (albeit ever so slightly squeaky) and there were extra pillows and a blanket in the wardrobe.

The bathroom was spacious, with a shower over a bath and hand wash/shower gel dispensers. There was a hairdryer attached to the wall in the bathroom.
The hotel is located between two side streets, so it wasn't very noisy

We didn't eat breakfast as for €11 for continental breakfast we thought it wasn't very good value. Instead we headed to one of the cafes overlooking the Capitole and had a €6 breakfast consisting of tea or coffee, croissant, orange juice, piece of baguette - great view and great weather!

I would recommend this hotel if you are wanting somewhere really close to the Capitole, but don't expect guest-house prices as you are paying for the location.

I chose this hotel for the organic breakfast, which was excellent, considering it is France.
Rooms were average but decent heating and clean, certainly.
I found each staff member here kind and helpful and generous in their suggestions. A lovely experience tho I was only staying one night.
Hotel is Less than 1min walk from main square and maybe 3min walk to river and famous bridges.
Taxis here cost E15 minimum, to anywhere, if leaving from the train station. Not just on Sundays (!) a local oddity it's best to know in advance.
Do try the authentic, hand made, violet - based foods in Toulouse, rather than those chemically created in China!

Excellent hotel. Very close to everything. Very comfortable and staff were all very helpful. On display is an excellent walking guide to Toulouse which eased our stay right from the start. Close to market which has wonderful restaurants upstairs but need to get there early and only opens lunchtimes. Close to all the other sights as well.
