Ibis Toulouse Gare Matabiau
Ranked #28 of 130 Hotels in Toulouse

We were collecting our car the following day and this was easy to find across the road from the station, the room was small and on the front of the hotel, over the main road but even with the window ajar we slept really well, the beds in the Ibis are very comfortable because the chain appears to have invested in memory foam mattress toppers which make a huge difference !! The hotels adjacent pizzeria/restaurant was just fine, if a bit lacking in ambiance, the food was OK.
Breakfast was in the lobby which felt odd but was quite adequate and well stocked with all one might require.

This hotel is very conveniently situated close to the station, bus station and the town centre is easy walking distance. The rooms are as you would expect in an Ibis hotel, very clean the bed very comfortable and the bathroom is fine. Some people might find it a bit noisy with the window open at night and there are a few odd characters around by the station, but I would certainly recommend this hotel for a budget stay.

Traveling with friends (two couples and two singles) we arrived after a day of driving after 6:00 PM in Toulouse on a Monday night in October. We were tired and I was planning to leave around 8 the next am on the train. The others were flying out the next afternoon. It was rush hour; I wanted to find a hotel by the train station. We had two cars. The only easily accessible and open parking was at the train station which worked. We walked across the street and booked four rooms at this hotel Now they were over $100 each, which is more than I would usually pay as a single in Toulouse. However for me the convenience made for great value. Our rooms were not like those mentioned in other reviews. Each was a goodsize and unique and were large as were the baths; two of them had balconies. In otherwords they had some character. The beds and pillows were comfortable. There was a bar and restaurant on sight where some of us ended up dining-- again for the convenience. The food was good and worth the price. It was wonderful to arise after 7; walk to the train station and be on my train to in about an hour.

Room was very dark and had the window towards the courtyard. Nevertheless, the room was clean, had nice wooden floors and a comfortable bed. The bathroom was old and could need some renovation. Also the floor was not very clean. Didn't have breakfast or any other meals. Free Wifi is provided which works quite well. It's good for a short stay or a business trip but if you're on vacation and seeking for some comfort this is not the place to stay.

You lurch off off your train, glad to be in Toulouse, relieved to have finally arrived. But now you have to find your hotel for a one-night stop before moving on.

Luckily you had the sense to book ahead, so now all you have to do is find the hotel.

The IBIS is right there, as you exit the station. Right across the canal and a short trek across a not too daunting road system. It's what you'd expect and not much more from this cookie cutter hotel they've duplicated in countless other cities.

The room is well proportioned and reassuringly clean. But don't expect anything fancy like a coffee machine, or a few impatient tea bags waiting to fulfill their destiny. Nope. This is a "we put you up, what more do you want" sort of hotel. True they claim they'll fix any problem within 15 minutes or you get to stay free, but if you believe that you'll probably believe anything.

Don't accept a room on the 5th floor as it seems the walls are made of tissue paper. But the water's hot, the beds comfortable and tomorrow's another day.

Room Tip: Avoid the top floor.
