“Really awful - avoid at all costs.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2010

This hotel is in a sleazy part of town. There were prostitutes and condoms on the street leading up to the hotel during lunchtime. The room we stayed in was overlooking a blank wall. The walls have stippling and painted bright yellow. The room is very small and the furniture is old and cheap. The "hotel" has NO parking even though it is advertised as having parking. You are told to go and park in the railway station.
The staff were very helpful but the location and decor mean it is really awful and please don't make the mistake we did - we will never stay there again!

I ws on the 5th floor, in a very small room, overlooking a major road and the Canal du Midi. There was quite a bit of road noise even at this height. The room was bare and cold. Breakfast was OK, with a choice of fresh fruit, croisants, bread, yoghurt, coffee. The hotel is apparently in a kind of red light district just by the main train station, and a 15 minute walk from the centre where the decent restaurants are. I would not stay here again.

We had an overnight stop in Toulouse and needed somewhere near the station for an early train the next morning. I booked this hotel a few days before our departure through lastminute.com, and got a reduced rate £60 instead of €72. I booked it mainly due to researching on Trip Advisor.

The hotel itself was absolutely fine. Some others in the vicinity looked seedy. When we arrived there was lots of cleaning going on in the lobby (a good sign), and we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who provided us with a city map and gave us some advice. She seemed a bit hung up on us using the mini bar, suggesting we 'have a refreshment from the mini bar' at least 3 or 4 times :) perhaps because we had got a reduced rate already :)

There is a lift, and when we reached the room, we found it to be very nice. Quite small, but no problem with this. Air conditioning and nice bathroom with bath, all very clean. Bed was comfortable and clean. flat screen TV on wall was nice and had lots of international channels including BBC news.

Floor to ceiling windows in both the bedroom and the bathroom ensured it was light and airy, and a sheer curtain provided privacy from the street below. There was a small balcony - not quite big enough to stand out on, but pretty none the less, with wrought-iron railings.

Our room looked out onto the main street. The hotel is almost directly opposite the train station which was ideal for us, but not the quietest or nicest of locations. We slept with the windows open and were woken up quite a few times by general Friday night noises. I didn't like Toulouse all that much, but looking at the hotel objectively, there is not really anything bad to say about it - it was fine.

We didn't take breakfast as we left too early, but it is charged extra. Also there is added "city tax" which is €0.90 per person. I'm not sure what this is for.

Just across the road, on the canal, is a floating restaurant which was recommended to us by a friend. We didn't end up going there, but it looked nice and atmospheric. We strolled to the main area of Toulouse, but as I mentioned, I wasn't amazingly impressed.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family. It is good value for money and seems like one of the best in the area opposite the station.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. A limited number of air conditioned rooms, breakfast was a little skimpy, and there's a vending machine for hypodermic needles on the front wall of the bar next door. The walk up to the city center takes you through the red light district. Quite an experience, and more than we bargained for...

I don't really understand why this small hotel is rated so high in Toulouse. Rooms are small but adequate for the price, sound proofing is reasonable indeed, beds are good. However it is relatively far from the city center and the smallishness is apparent where ever you are. The breakfast is poor at most. The hotel is directly in front of station and 50m away from the last stop of the airport shuttle. Very good for people wishing to transfer. I would choose a different hotel when visiting Toulouse next time. Surely there are nicer possibilities at about the same price.

Atel Phoenica
Rooms were immaculate, front desk staff helpful/pleasant and the Continnental breakfast very good. The location is close to the train station, but only a 20 minute walk to the City Center and the provincal capital square. I give it a high rating for a 3 star hotel. Hi speed internet was available at no cost primarily a business man's hotel, but for also great for a senior budget traveler. Security after hours was excellent. 24 hour staff at front desk.

I stayed at this hotel while attending a conference in the Congress Center (about a 20 minute walk). Based on the posted price of the rooms, I was not expecting anything wonderful. However, I was pleasantly surprised with several aspects of the hotel. For instance, the staff was very helpful and pleasant, the morning breakfast was quite good, and the soundproofing in the room was excellent. There were a few minor negatives, such as the surrounding area (typical of what you'd expect to find right by a train station) and the rooms were a bit small, but from a value perspective (what you get for what you pay), I'd rate this hotel quite highly.
