Crowne Plaza Toulouse
Ranked #17 of 130 Hotels in Toulouse
Reviewed April 6, 2013

The best price value ratio in the center square of Toulouse. (as you can't get any more centered than that). Walking distance to everything, even with the rain, you will find the pub, bar, restaurant or gastronomy experience you are looking for.
The staff speaks several languages (which is a nice change for France) and they are weary to your needs. They are very young but definitely capable of organizing the services the right way.
What i like the most:
-Internet signal and speed (better than anywhere I have been in France)
-The little attentions (supported by a little note every time) : the sleep gimmick making you sleep better, (and it really did), the free Evian water bottles, the multi channel TV with all languages, the view, etc...
The fact you are on the square is priceless, for any activities in town and you can tell by the amount of big cheese from Airbus or other airlines, that the hotel is pivotal for business in the Aerospace Toulouse scheme.
20mn tops from the airport, you make you way back and forth without trouble, as long as you are in a taxi. The access can be tricky, as the center is grid locked due to the tramway installation road work.
I will definitely come back.

Room Tip: get on the last floor (sixth). The view from either side is really nice

Great business hotel in the centre of town - clean and friendly service. Really liked the "this works" products to help you sleep - really nice touch and did work. Plugs by the bed are a plus. Good solution for business trips.

This was our final night in France from attending the Sarlat Truffe Festival. We usually stay at the Grand Hotel de l'Opera, but were unable to make reservations there last October and opted for the Crowne Plaza because we like this location. Our room was spacious and overlooked a small courtyard. All the staff were very friendly and upgraded our room just being nice. Everything we want to see is within easy walking distance. Internet service was reliable without interruptions, and restaurants abound nearby. This hotel has been modernized and a welcome change from our usual stop. We would definitely stay here again. The Crowne Plaza is located downtown with a large number of restaurants in close proximity. Taxi fare from the airport to the hotel was approx. Euro 20 and wasn’t a very long ride. The square in front of the hotel hosted an open-air Christmas market, so there was always some activity going on.

Check-in was straightforward. The hotel had insufficient power outlets in the rooms to simultaneously charge your phone, PC and other items. No adaptors were provided

The iron at the Crowne Plaza was terrible and I expected to at least have access to a steam iron. The one I found in the room couldn’t maintain a constant temperature and you either didn’t press your shirts or you burnt them. I expected more from a 4 star hotel.

There are plenty of places to walk near the hotel. Taxis were in short supply and some drivers refused to drive to the hotel front door to drop you off claiming it was too busy.

Breakfast..make sure you understand whether it is included in your daily rate or not. At approx.. Euro30 I found it very expensive for the selection provided. If you include it in your room rate upon check-in, it’s a bargain at Euro15, but gets charged every day.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We very much value your feedback and do our best to learn from it.

We are glad you enjoyed the hotel’s location. It is true that everything is accessible by foot and that many restaurants and sights are close by.
Taxis fares from the airport tend to be around 30€ for a 20 to 30 minute ride to the hotel. I would like to take the time to tell you that we have taken your comment about irons on board. While we are investigating the available options to improve this matter, may I take this opportunity to pint point our efficient dry cleaning service and the possibility to chose “express” dry cleaning if needed.
Our break ” all you can eat” buffet breakfast costs 24€ but can also be offered as part of a bundle with the room. For that price we try to offer a wide range of cold and hot food from eggs to tomatoes, potatoes, pastries or “charcuterie”… our teams also do their best to adapt their offer when possible.

We hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you in the future. If so, please do not hesitate to contact our concierge department to ease your stay as much as possible.

Not so good things:

1) nightmare to find the way to the hotel, even with a GPS.
The whole area is under construction.
Nevertheless this is not the Hotel's fault.

2)The hotel is dated, rooms are in desperate need of renovation or at least an facelift.
The hotel staff was totally indifferent to my arrival, with the exception of a bell boy, that was sort of helpful. My room had an unpleasant odour....kind of hard to describe. Mix of food and dirt...not really sure.

3)The restaurant is very bad. I ordered a lobster ravioli, that got to the table cold and tasted off. It was replaced and to my surprise was simply re-heated. The taste and look got worst. I asked the bill and canceled the bass with parmesan risotto. I was not charged a single penny, at least that! but it was a very disappointing experience.
The service in the restaurant was also very poor.

4) I get the feeling, that many positive reviews in trip advisor are misleading for this particular hotel.

Good things:

1) The temperature in the room was pleasant
2) There was no noise coming from outside ( I asked not to face the square )
3) The internet was complimentary and the speed was good.
4) I asked for a late check-out and they said I could check out at 13h00...not that bad.

If I would return? Probably not.

But to Toulouse, definitely yes. Gorgeous city!

Dear Sir,

We are sorry to learn that you have had an unpleasant stay in our hotel.
We now try to enclose a map showing how to get to the hotel to our booking confirmation and do our best to inform customers of the changes in the hotel access.

As for the rooms we are very surprised by your feedback as they have all been renovated last year, early 2012. I also would like to let you know that the smell has been dealt with and is no longer an issue.
Eventually, we are sorry your experience at our restaurant was disappointing but are a bit startled since the table next to yours ordered the same dish and gave us a very positive feedback.
Your comment has nonetheless been taken on board as the restaurant has not charged you anything.

We thank you for your feedback and will do our best to improve our service in hope to gain your trust back.

Stayed in room 307 for 3 nights - non smoking room on a non smoking floor. Good points - Service was excellent. Staff very helpful and polite. All you can eat breakfast. You can also ask for whatever you want in addition to what is on display and staff will provide. Crepes for breakfast - no problems. Large comfy bed. Plenty of pillows. Rooms cleaned daily if you wish. New towels daily if you wish. Complimentary bathrobe. Normal freebies in room. No noise at nights. Hotel in superb central location. Well stocked mini bar. We booked a club room so free room safe which was so easy to operate. Room for improvement - poor lighting in rooms. No central main light. One bedside lamp not working. Cardboard discs copvering holes in wall by plugs and powerpoints. A botched job which should really involve re-plastering. Only unsafe if you try and move the discs but not representative of 5 star finishing I'm afraid. Most disapppointing aspect was the TV channel selection for english speaking customers (us). Eurosport GB - not available but advertised as one of the channels to choose from. The only BBC channel was BBC2 N Ireland. So many cookery programmes made me feel sick! All in all a very comfortable, clean, quiet, keen to please hotel Definitely not the 5 star it thinks it is but worthy of 4 stars imo. I would stay there again. Warning - not cheap but thats more to do with the state of the £ rather than being ultra expensive. We paid £140 euros for 1 night and 170 for the other 2.Tip - Taxi 30 euros to the airport booked via reception. You will probabaly save 5 euros if you take a taxi from the rank outside.

Dear Martin S,

Thank you for your feedback. We very much appreciate the time you took to write this comment and are already looking into what you said.
For instance our technical team is looking into the technical issues you have had with the bedside lamp and the cardboard discs you mentioned.

Our hotel has been classified by “Atout France” as a 5 stars hotel in April 2011. This means we have to fill out the standard requirements of a 5 stars hotel. To do so, we have already renovated all our rooms although we are continuously looking for ways to improve our hotel.

All the Crowne Plaza Toulouse Hotel team looks forward to having you back.

The hotel is located just steps from the Capitole Square. The room was large and entirely setup for a traveler's comfort. The bath towels were the best! The staff is very cordial--check in/out was a smooth process, dining in the restaurant was delicious and easy. Drinks in the bar was also a nice experience (although we couldn't quite figure out the reason behind a life-size horse statue with a light & lampshade coming out of it's head.

Our room was on the side alley and was noisy our first night. If someone is a light sleeper, request an inner room. The second night was quite.

The location is perfect--you can walk to many sites, catch a taxi for the train station (10-15 minute ride) or walk to the Metro and get around town that way.

We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: High floor and inner room if you are a light sleeper.

Dear Sir, Madam,

Thank you very much for your feedback. The hotel team is very pleased to know that you have had a pleasant stay. We are glad you appreciated the hotel’s location along with the size of the rooms.
As you rightly pointed out we have rooms facing side streets, the Capitole square or our patios. We always try to accommodate our guests the best we can.

As for the “trendy” life-size horse statue which grabbed your attention, it has for aim to show the way to our bar and restaurants and also brings a bit of the country-side in our city hotel.

Please do not hesitate to contact us to book your next stay. Our teams will be happy to assist you.
