Grand Hotel de l'Opera
Ranked #8 of 130 Hotels in Toulouse
Certificate of Excellence

Worth every star it is given, this hotel is in prime position in Capital Square. There is this hotel and the Crowne Plaza overlooking the square, I'd go for the Hotel de l'Opera personally.
The decor is fantastic, not just at reception, but throughout. Staff are very helpful and speak very good English. One tip to offer, we had room 701 which was one floor up from ground but overlooked the entrance to the hotel reception and the restaurants. Although the room was excellent, it can be a little noisy when people leave the restaurant or take a smoke break between courses. It wasn't that people were noisy, just talking at normal level was enough to be heard.
There are a lot of roadworks going on in the city, some just out side the hotel pathway to the entrance. However, I did not notice noise from that at all whilst inside the hotel. Perhaps they do not start work too early.

Room Tip: Try to avoid a room on a lower floor which overlooks the pathway to the reception as you may get noi...

The room was very nice with a beautiful bathroom, lounge setting and very comfortable bed. The staff were very polite, the buffet breakfast delicious and the bar great for a pre dinner drink and a read of English newspapers. It is within walking distance of Gare de Toulouse-Matabiau.

Plus: Spacious room with balcony, ample storage space, great king-size bed. Location is perfect and central.Good buffet breakfast.
Minor points; squaky wooden floor in bathroom, wifi-access code is for 24 hrs, so every day other code. ask for vip code. Ask for higher floors, 3th.

This is a grand hotel with a very charming ambiance. Clean and good size rooms were only out done by the welcoming staff and inviting entry to the hotel. The only problem was the not so easy to access electrical outlets, but many hotels in France have this same issue.

Location is fantastic, right on the square and just a few minutes walk from the metro and from here it is easy to connect to the train station.

I stayed here on business in December 2011.

The hotel is situated in a great central location. The hotel is really lovely from the outside and overlooked the main square, which in December had a Christmas market going on every day. There were plenty of restaurants lining the square and a nearby Metro stop (5 mins walk).

My room was lovely, a very comfortable bed, big grand velvet curtains and a sizeable bathroom.

Breakfast was a little pricey (19 euros/person/day) but there was a good selection and the waitresses very friendly.

The only thing I can fault was that the lift was a bit small and could do updating, but otherwise, a really great hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Try and overlook the main square :)

I spent one night at the Grand Hotel de L'Opera, and was very happy with the location, accommodation and service. The building has a lot of character and the rooms also have a very interesting decor, although it may not be to everyone's liking. The room was large and comfortable, and the bathroom as well. Toiletries are of good quality and the linen as well. Concerning the service I had a very good experience - a friend gave me a bottle of wine as a present, and whilst that was great, I was travelling with hand luggage only, and would not be able to fly back to the UK with it. I mention the problem to the concierge and he offered to dispatch it to me (at my cost) - it arrived yesterday! :-)
