I visited the F& R on the evening of La 14th Juillet after watching some of the celebrations..
I have no quibble with the reports of the beers. The Darktagnan is a good stout if you like stout and it is also possible to buy a typical English bitter. Then I went to the nice, cold lager.
As for the food; the 'Iandian' meals imprted from the New Delhi across the street are not good or true Indian. I called there first for a Chicken Tikka Bhuna,my favourit but I have never had one with what seemed to be liver in it. Though the staff swore they were all geniuine Indians, a quick test with a few words of |Hindi afterwards created embarrassed looks and proved they were more likely to be Pakistani or another type of middle eastern.
The F&R provided an excellent basic English meal with what we call 'chips' but others call 'French Fries'. I was very pleased to see that they were excellent, proper, English chips, not the sort of skinny, wooden 'french Fries a la MacDonalds which you get in most continental cafes.
All in all, a very nice establishment and I agree with the other good reports. I can heartily recommend it. It doesn't open 'til 8pm BTW, very popular and busy.
