“Disappointment”
Reviewed October 11, 2013

After 5 days of biking and eating at wonderful inns, we had our first disappointing meal.
The meal started promising with a nice bowl of pumpkin soup.
Next The waiter mistakenly brought my husband duck instead of the "faux fillet" (steak) he ordered. He exchanged it for the steak shortly after he delivered it, realizing his mistake. The steak however was not edible. It was presented well, but was as tough as shoe leather. The desserts seemed days old.
We were scheduled to eat at the Chateau again by our tour company a second night. This time we dined with friends warning them about the steak. One of the friends decided to order it anyway hoping for a better cut of beef. He too was sadly disappointed. His steak was so bad that he had to excuse him self from the table to remove it from his mouth.
The service from staff was very good and the restaurant was busy, perhaps it is normally a better experience for others.

“Consistently Very Good”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

Third time here and never been disappointed. For such a large dining area that is often busy the service is fast and efficient and executed to a high standard, including giving advice when needed.

I started with a terrine of hare with prunes which was scrumptious while my better half had the foie gras, which was good but not as nice as mine! For main she had kidneys with sweetbreads which while delicious were very filling, so being the hero I helped her out. Its a tough job eating delicious food. Meanwhile I had packed away a very nice lamb cutlets with aubergine and potato. This was followed by a little goats cheese and a very extravagant ice cream dessert and washed down with a fine bottle of local Cahors wine.

The menu's were priced at 38€50 and the wine was about 30€.

“Eat outside and feel oh so very French!”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

We ate each night of our stay at the Hotel du Chateau in their restaurant 100yds away, under trees and accompanied by a pianist most evenings. The staff do very well in serving large groups so promptly with regional produce and a local cheese each day. Only criticism would be that vegetarian meals could be more imaginative, but otherwise this is a good choice, with friendly waiters.

“Not the best”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

We ate here one night, as part of a hotel/cycling package, were due to eat here for two, it's a big restaurant with no atmosphere and it appears to cater for coaches parties, so maybe this was why the food seemed mass produced. I had Faux Filet, which was supposed to be medium/well done, well is almost walked off the plate.... and the potatoes were very greasy, felt it wasn't even worth asking for it to be cooked some more, the cheese course was presented not very elegantly on a small plate with a round of goat's cheese with the label on and that was it. I passed on desert. This was the worse meal we'd had all week.
