We found this hotel by chance after we had visited the “Gouffre de Padirac” and were on our way to the Castle of Castelnau. The hotel is in a little village with fantastic views over the whole valley, and especially the Castle of Castelnau. The hotel staff were friendly and effective, and although we had not made a prior booking, we were quickly assigned our room, with an access card which was also used for the main door. The reception area was quite large with a few comfortable armchairs, which we were happy to use after dinner as it was the only place where there was reasonable WIFI. Also, a good parking area. Our room was on the first floor (no lift) looking out over the valley and the castle. A large modern room with a king-size bed (not always available in France), large screen TV and fridge. A clean and modern bathroom, separate WC (found in many French hotels). The dining/breakfast room and the connecting balcony provided stupendous views of the valley and Castle of Castelnau. There is also a tennis court and swimming pool. The hotel seems to be used mainly by groups using the hotel as a base for their walking tours in the area.
We had both dinner and breakfast at the hotel, excellent quality, especially regional products. As in many (smaller) hotels in France, there is no 24/7 reception (the staff left at 22.00 - they were on duty again at 08.00 the next morning). All was quiet as most guests had retired for the night.
If you like a peaceful stay in a beautiful environment, this hotel can be warmly recommended.
