“Classic Local Dishes”
Reviewed June 5, 2012

Unlike many tourist sites, Rocamadour has a number of good restaurants serving well cooked and well presented local fayre at reasonable prices. Many also boast terraces with shade, views and fresh air. The restaurant at Beau Site is probably the best. The menu contains various local dishes all of which are well prepared using local ingredients. Presentation is clean and simple and the staff are helpful and friendly. The terrace extends into the main restaurant, so that even in poorer weather it is possible to eat overlooking the valley. The menu du jour is particularly good value. The wine list is comprehensive, but (unsurprisingly) the wines from South West France offer the best value. Booking is not always necessary, but it is certainly advisable. If you haven't booked in advance, pop in during the morning to secure a table for lunch.

The stay here was good. There are two building, I stayed in the one across from the main building. I found it simple and clean with a lovely view.. Restaurant food was great. Not luxurious, but a nice just the same. I would stay again, but would ask for the other building.

Room Tip: Ask for the main building.

This hotel is situated right in the village and cathedral area of Rocamadour. The hotel staff was super friendly and helpful. The room was large, clean and had excellent views. We also ate at the restaurant at the hotel and experienced great service and food.

One suggestion is to explore the entire area (all the way back to the village) and up to the Ramparts on top via foot. Excellent views and experience both day and night. Walking around gives you a much better experience for this area.

Location is exceptional!
Easy to find.
Decor luxurious.
Rooms super quality.
Little choice in dining but what is available is great quality and value for money.
Super staff!
TV channels in English.
Secure parking.
Spotless rooms with every convenience.
Tea/coffee facilities would have been great.
If only once you go there then it's worthwhile and memorable!

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the valley. Ours had both valley views and those of the main street w...

The staff were friendly and fautless, the room was clean and suprisingly big same for the bathroom, nice view over the village and surrounding.
The restaurant is ok but it needs to be renovated, the breakfast is copious and varied enough, well located in the middle of the village.
Be careful the parking is very small.

This was an awesome hotel, very medieval in decor. They did have a very large party in the hotel, so we were upgraded to a better room. It was lovely. A large bed, fireplace. Beautiful decor. Very clean and quiet. We even left our windows open all night long, right on the main street and still got plenty of sleep! The receptionist was the best also! Just wonderful!

Although quite ordinary looking from outside, you get transported back to history as soon as you reach the hotel reception desk. The staff are very helpful and courteous and do all they can to make your stay enjoyable. The adjacent restaurant serves mouthwatering dishes ranking quite high on the "gastronomic" scale...
Sightseeing the close-by castle and chapels is quite easy but be prepared to climb a lot to reach your nirvana.
Don't forget to drive a few kilometers to discover the "Gouffre" in Padirac which is the second most visited underground cave in France.
I will definitely stay at BEST WESTERN Beau Site Notre Dame should I go back to Rocamadour again.
